Carlos Condit isn't calling it quits just yet. The UFC announced on Tuesday a sizzling welterweight match-up between Condit and fellow top-ranked contender Demian Maia slated for Aug. 20 at UFC 202. The Albuquerque Journal first broke the news.

The announcement marks the return of Condit (30-9) following a controversial split decision loss to UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in January. In the wake of the disappointing loss, Condit indicated that he may consider retirement, but now it appears that 32-year-old former interim UFC champion is gearing up for another run towards the title.

Nicknamed "The Natural Born Killer," Condit is widely regarded as one of the most ferocious finishers in the fight game. An astounding 28 of his 30 professional wins have ended via stoppage, including knockouts of Rory MacDonald, Thiago Alves, and Dong Hyun Kim. Condit holds just a 2-4 record since late 2012, however three of those losses came in title fights, and the other arrived when Condit blew out his knee in a 2014 bout against Tyron Woodley.

Maia (23-6), on the other hand, is one of the division's hottest contenders. The 38-year-old jiu-jitsu savant has won five consecutive fights, highlighted by absolutely dominant performances over Neil Magny, Gunnar Nelson, and Matt Brown. Known for his mat wizardry, Maia is 8-2 inside the UFC since dropping down from the middleweight division to welterweight in 2012.

UFC 202 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor takes on Nate Diaz in a welterweight rematch in the night's main event.

Updated UFC 202 fight card ...

Tim Means returns from USADA suspension, meets Sean Strickland at UFC 202

Yet another welterweight bout will go down at UFC 202. Tim Means facing off with Sean Strickland is the latest addition to August’s UFC 202 lineup.

UFC officials today confirmed the matchup with MMAjunkie after an initial report from Albuquerque Journal.

Means (25-7-1 MMA, 7-4 UFC) will return from an eight-month layoff for the bout after he scored a second-round knockout of John Howard at UFC Fight Night 80 in December. He was supposed to return for a main event bout against Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 83 in February, but was removed from the contest less than a month out after receiving a potential USADA anti-doping policy violation.

“The Dirty Bird” protested the violation and had a potential two-year suspension reduced to six months when he proved he unknowingly ingested tainted supplements. Means has won five of his past six bouts with the lone defeat coming to 170-pound contender Matt Brown.

Strickland (18-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC), meanwhile, will look to add another victory to his near-flawless record. “Tarzan” has been successful in five of his six UFC appearances with his most recent contest being a split-decision win over Tom Breese at UFC 199 in June.

The latest UFC 202 card now includes:

•Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor
•Anthony Johnson vs. Glover Teixeira
•Donald Cerrone vs. Rick Story
•Carlos Condit vs. Demian Maia
•Dong Hyun Kim vs. Neil Magny
•Alberto Uda vs. Marvin Vettori
•Tim Means vs. Sean Strickland

Bantamweight fight between Cody Garbrandt and Takeya Mizugaki added to UFC 202

The undefeated Garbrandt (9-0) is coming off a first-round knockout over Thomas Almeida in May. A product of Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, Garbrandt is 4-0 in the UFC with three knockouts. The 24-year-old is considered one of the better young fighters in the division.

He'll face a longtime staple of the division in Mizugaki (21-9-2), who has not yet fought in 2016. The 32-year-old fighter out of Japan holds an 8-4 record in the UFC and has faced the likes of Dominick Cruz, Urijah Faber and Miguel Torres during his 11-year career.
