Thoughts on Bumgarner batting ???

Curious what the forum thinks about this.

The giants are going to allow Bumgarner to bat tonight even though it's a road A-L game where the designated hitter is available !?!?!?

I know he's a great hitting pitcher , but I can't believe he's a better option than a dh.

....btw , this hasn't been done since 1988 when Billy Martin used pitcher rick Rhode as a dh.

I thought someone posted he said Hell to the No on it
I would imagine being a Top 3 to 5 pitcher he has a say so in it
It would suck should he accidentally get hit or something and miss games .
It's a stupid move to allow your #1 to have a potential to get hurt and possibly miss games IMHO

Giants are really beat up right now. Lots of call ups from the minors playing in these games. Mad bum can hit !

It's for sure at his request. He wanted to participate in the home run derby but the giants said he'll no. ...this is just to keep him happy.

I wouldn't let my #1 bat no matter what , stupid shit can happen in the batters box .
There's zero chance if he doesn't bat he gets hurt by accident while batting . . There's 1% or more if he does , he's a great pitcher because of his pitching not batting .
If anything were to happen , it's a lose lose situation in which he may get 4 to 5 at bats .
Ask yourself if my #1pitcher is batting Instead of any other backup , etc . I may not be managing my team to its potential. I know weird thought with that part
There has to be 1 guy who can bat 4 or 5 times in his spot.
Just my personal opinion .
Hope nothing crazy happens that would affect one of the best pitchers in the league but it's a possibility especially with a rookie and jitters knowing he's pitching to Bum in the batters box .

He is probably the best bat not in the starting rotation at the moment for the giants. You put the guy on the mound that can bat, they are fighting off a sweep, and he wants a win after his last outting, my bet is Bum comes up with a hit or two.
