When Dwight Howard starts having his free agent meetings on Friday he'll be seeking a contract starting at $24 million a season according to a source. Howard is expected to conduct his meetings in his hometown of Atlanta. Boston and Atlanta have secured the first meetings with the center. Portland and Charlotte have also expressed interest in Howard, who declined a player option with the Rockets at $23.2 million.

Joakim Noah's meeting with the Knicks is set for tomorrow afternoon, sources say. Noah will have the opportunity to take phone calls from other teams starting at midnight tonight, which is interesting. The Knicks remain strong favorites for Noah, however, and people around the league would be surprised if the deal between Noah and the Knicks wasn't completed. The meeting time was earlier reported by the NY Post.

The Nets, unable to find a trade for Jarrett Jack, just announced Jack's release.

Releasing Jarrett Jack today leaves the Nets on the hook for just $500,000 of the $6 million that the vet guard was due to earn next season.

With Wayne Ellington opting for free agency, the Nets currently have the following players under contract: Brook Lopez, Bojan Bogdanovic, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Chris McCullough and Sean Kilpatrick. They drafted Caris LeVert and Isaiah Whitehead and qualified Markel Brown, making him a restricted free agent. Rebuilding Brooklyn's needs are vast starting with a PG and a PF. They also need shooting, bigs and depth.

Lakers priorities in free agency were shooting & rim protection. Among names I've heard interest in: Ryan Anderson, Parsons, Batum, Bazemore, Tyler Zeller.

One sneaky team to watch in Pau Gasol free agency: Golden State Warriors. If they miss on KD, been told they are very interested. Gasol took less to sign with Bulls. He isn't keen on doing so again, but market + contender status matters to him.

The Knicks have several shooting guards on their radar, including Austin Rivers, Evan Turner, Eric Gordon and Courtney Lee, per sources. The first domino for New York is Joakim Noah, though. If and when they agree to a number with Noah, they will move on to shooting guard. The club also hasn't ruled out the possibility of meeting with Kevin Durant, sources say. Their meeting with Noah is scheduled for tomorrow and will take place in Orlando, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. The Knicks' interest in Rivers and location of the Noah meeting was first reported by The Vertical.
