Going back to college after 8 years without opening a study book...

Decided I'm pretty much done with the industry here in CR (for the most part)... I'm getting a cool new gig in 2 weeks but the offshore outlook seems worst and worst every year, certainly not something I will depend on in 10 years.

I'm 29, just signed into the best college here in CR to study Cisco Systems. In 1 year I will be a technician and have enough market to have a job for at least the next 20 years...

What's to expect? Am I getting headaches in between classes?

Cant say the college party life is strange to me, been living that way since high school so thats gonna be another day in the office. Will meet way more poon tang for sure,

Just keep in mind, you are choosing an industry that you will constantly have to be learning. In tech, things you learned 3 years ago are almost irrelevant today.

I don't know for sure if thats an insult but it sounds like it could be. Sounds like something out of a Dr. Seuss book dude.

I went ahead and Googled thorton melon to try and find out what it means, save you some leg work but theres not much on the term thorton melon on the internet just says that was some guy who while in Namibia on Safari in 1902 discovered a sweetfruit previously unknown to the western world but which we now know as The Melon but his name was thornley melon which Google asked me if thats what I meant when I tried to search for thorton melon dude.

A lot of the material I learned studying for my computer degree is outdated today. But you really need that base to start off with. Just make sure you really enjoy your chosen profession. Good luck PR. You can do this!!

Hey PR I also want to wish you good luck. It's a smart decision that you're headed back with a specific career goal in mind. It's not like you're an 18 year old who can afford to "study the humanites and become more well-rounded" while getting your literature or sociology degree before moving back into your old bedroom in your parent's house
