July 3rd Best Bet

I think the Best Bet today is on the New York Yankees. While the Yankees have been swept a couple times this year in 3+ game series (vs Oakland in April - who they turned around and swept in May - and vs Boston in April, and vs Toronto in May -- I'm not counting the '2 game' sweep the Rockies put on them), they are going up against a Padre team that hasn't swept ANYONE all season. I'm not sold this Padre team can sweep any MLB team this year.

Cashner is going for San Diego today, but he hasn't started an MLB game in nearly a month. And although he's now someone the Padres are turning to, don't expect much out of him today. Even before the neck injury, his BB to K ratio was lousy (22 walks against 36 K's), and his ERA is close to 5. He put in a mere 3 innings in his only rehab start - so expect some rust from Cashner today. If he gets into the 6th inning, I'll be stunned. This means the Yankees will get to see one of the leagues most inconsistent bullpens for at least 4 innings.

The Yanks on the other hand have called up Chad Green for the start today. He's been lights out at AAA, posting a 1.54 ERA. The light-hitting Padres are a great match up for him today.

Right now the best line is at 5Dimes (-114) for the Yankees. I'm hopping on it.

Chad Green is trash though. I definitely agree with your analysis but to pull the trigger I would like a better pitcher on the mound. He burned me in his debut against the DBacks.
