Why do lines move?

Hey, everyone, first post here, and I just had a question about line movements.

I've been following a couple guys on here for MLB picks and i noticed that most often you're not going to get the exact same price on a play as the person who posted the play did. The majority of the time the line gets worse but sometimes the line gets better.

When the line gets better, is it usually because some news came out that affects that game or is it mostly a sign of money being wagered on the other side of the bet?

Thanks.

The line move is generally a result of the book taking in more money on one side. The book will move the line in an effort to get more money to come in on the other side. Their goal is to take an even amount on both sides. This way they can profit off of the juice and not make themselves vulnerable to one side or the other.

Line moves can also be caused by new information becoming available (i.e. injuries). There's also the possibility that the person posting the pick is not being completely honest about the line they got. Someone may tout a team +7 when the actual line available to people is +6. This just helps them potentially count their play as a winner.
