I think the cops clearly didn't handle this well, but I can see their paranoia, assuming they knew his long history of violent felonies, including resisting arrest.

The victim was also a child sex offender, he wasn't the saint that he's being portrayed as in the media.

That being said, he didn't deserve to die like that... sad.

I don't know man. They respond to a report of a guy pointing a gun. He won't comply with orders. They tase him and it doesn't work and his hands are at his side near his pockets where the gun was located. We can't tell if he's grabbing for it or not in that video. If he baggy pants on, he could shoot right through his pocket.

Anyone defending the cops in this situation are completely insane. The clerk in the store was interviewed & said it was not true that he was pointing the gun & threatening anyone. His hands were held down yet the cops shot him in cold blood. His prior offenses have zero to do with what went down in this incident.

If you're a police officer going to a scene where someone is being accused of threatening someone with a gun, and you know the person has no criminal record, vs. knowing that he has a long violent felony rap sheet including resisting arrest - do you think you'd be approaching those two situations differently?

How could you say the police handled this wrong. The guy was fighting with the police and he had a gun on him. I don't want my policeman getting killed under these circumstances. If a cop was killed, it would be no big deal to everyone. It is simple, comply with the police and don't resist arrest. This guy got everything he deserved.

You go & find out the facts before looking for any excuse to fire off a gun. The guy is pinned down and they are in control of his arms, he is not getting to his gun.

Sorry but you are a complete jackass for saying this. He was in a position where getting to his gun was not happening & that guy just chose to fire shots into him without thinking twice. You can find videos online of a white guy going off on a cop swinging and not once did they pull their gun out to shoot. This guy is on the ground in a defensive position & boom let me take out my gun & shoot first and ask questions later.

One day I want to see what happens if you get tackled to the ground by cops. I am sure with your logic you are going to be completely calm & civil....

I've fought with cops, certainly been tackled to the ground plenty of times, slammed off of car hoods at least a couple of these battles were they to take place today (instead of the years ago now that they did) I fully believe that were I Black I'd be shot.

I will be the first to acknowledge that there is a problem.

And admit enthusiastically that I am not smart enough to know what the answer is.

Black People, with Black Lives Matter's approach just make Policing their neighborhoods harder though.

Which is only gonna lead to Black People suffering. And Them Rioting in the streets is the opposite of an answer.

What can be done?
