Why was New England penalized so much for cheating?

I don't deny they cheated. They are pretty notorious cheaters. But if anyone else deflates a ball they get $25,000 in fines and that's it.

Pats got:

$1,000,000 (40 times someone the minimum. Like a minimum sentence of 1 year in jail and getting 40)
2 draft picks (a 1st and a 4th round)
4 game suspension for Tom Brady

That is pretty crazy. Is that like if a ref blows a call and does a make-up call on the other end?

Hate the Pats and don't think they were penalized enough for the other stuff....but this seems pretty harsh

It was....There's NE and then everyone outside NE. They will buy anything negatively related to the Patriots. None of them will read anything about what happened.
Just go by what ESPN says. The same folks around here that poke fun of the lying corporation that is ESPN, will follow its every word. Posters here call Goodell a crooked, lying, POS...but when it comes to the Patriots he did good!

Even the OP starts his post with "I don't deny they cheated", like there is some proof out there it happened, even though no one has found it yet.

well I am in NE but hate the patriots...but I understand what you are saying.
