I'm not talking about passing an 8th grade level Spanish class. I'm talking being able to conduct real business both verbally and In writing .

Able to to give a easily understandable speach in Spanish.

How long will this take me ?

It's not easy but if you totally immerse yourself in it, you can probably do it.

That is a really high level and would take an incredible amount of dedication.

It is one of those things that getting to that level is probably 20x harder than getting to a level of being able to take a vacation or converse with your neighbor.

There is no doubt I can do it but can it be done in 2 years or less?
Is that too optimistic ?

Better give up those Saints games but 2 years you can probably get a pretty long way. Especially if it is for business purposes because you know the business you are in and the jargon required for that is probably pretty consistent and a bit more narrow than the entire language. So that is a positive.

def doable in two years if you put some time in and well worth it

i use duolingo (free online) and 30 min courses on audible (pimsleur approach)

both focus on practical applications and cut out what you don't/won't need

duolingo tracks your estimated % fluency as you go (and you can even add your % fluency to your linkedin profile if you are doing this for business purposes)

practice as much as you can with native speakers

good luck amigo

Writing is easier because you can take your time but the oral and aural is on the spot hit or miss. You could do two years if you're 100% immersed yourself in it including where you live, otherwise more realistic, imo, is 5 years.

When you guys say 100% immerse yourself.
What is your definition of that?
30 mins a day?
2 hrs a day?
Every waking moment ?
