Oh didn't see a thumbs down in your post knew you didn't like the talk about the guy that's injured involed in any deal

I didn't want them to trade Schwarber when he was a prospect because I thought he could be a legit MLB power hitter and I didn't want to see us get underpaid. His value hadn't ripened yet. Now that the rest of baseball has seen what he can do, and stock on him is so high, I am OK dealing him. We have major outfield depth, he's never going to be our long term catcher, and he just seems suited for AL baseball; and I think now we'd get fair compensation for him.

But yeah it would be sickening to watch him hit 50 HR a year in NY or something.

This Chapman/Torres deal is only palatable to me if it comes with an extension. Otherwise it's a pretty big overpay of a top prospect for a 3 month rental at closer, when the back end of the bullpen is not the biggest problem, middle relief is. Rondon is certainly a serviceable closer, so the deal only makes sense to me if he can successfully make the transition to setup man.

I know there's not much room on this team to keep every good prospect, the advantage of being so loaded on the farm is that you have some trading chips. But I thought Torres would be a chip in the offseason to land a good young cost-controlled SP. So giving that up for a rental would be dumb.

Then again, there's no doubt he would improve this year's team. Seems like a good year to go for it.

Guess I'll just trust in the FO and be OK with whatever they do.

They probably not gonna make the deal for a rental . It's probably a sign and trade

8:48am: Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports (links to Twitter) that the Cubs would send four players to the Yankees in the deal. In addition to Torres, former Yankees right-hander Adam Warren would likely return to New York. Candelario, according to Sherman, is not in the deal. The trade has the approval of Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner, Sherman notes. Rosenthal tweets that the trade is in its final stages, and the players have been agreed upon.
