Aaron Rodger definitely won’t be making a cameo on The Bachelorette hometown dates, despite the fact that his little brother, Jordan, is a frontrunner on the current season of the ABC reality show. According to the Washington Post, during a one-on-one date with Bachelorette star JoJo Fletcher, the younger Rodgers revealed that Aaron is not close with anyone in the Rodgers family since rising to fame as the superstar quarterback for the Green Bay Packers.
Jordan told JoJo that while he hasn’t brought a girl home to meet his parents, Darla and Ed, in years, he was ready to take that step with her. The Bachelorette contestant said in addition to his parents, JoJo would meet his oldest brother, Luke, and Luke’s dog, Carl Weathers. Then he dropped the bombshell that made Fletcher realize there won’t be any Super Bowl box seats in her future.
“And, um, my middle brother won’t be there,” he confessed. “Yeah, Aaron. Like I said, I have a great relationship with my brother Luke. Me and Aaron don’t really have that much of a relationship.”
The younger Rodgers went on to explain that Aaron has chosen to distance himself from the family, while he remains close with his parents and brother.
“It’s just kind of the way he’s chosen to do life,” Jordan said of Aaron. “I chose to stay close with my family and my parents and my brother, and, um, yeah, it’s just — it’s not ideal.”
Apparently, things are so estranged that Aaron Rodgers didn’t even know his brother was going to appear on The Bachelorette — at least not at first. His brother said they really don’t talk at all anymore, and he made it seem like there is sibling rivalry between them. Aaron is a Super Bowl-winning quarterback while Jordan had a failed career in pro sports.
“No matter what I did, it was never good enough for a coach or for a teammate, because I was being compared to someone who did it the best, “Jordan said. “When I walked away from playing I could’ve kept playing, but football didn’t define me. And not having a great relationship with my brother Aaron, or what people think that relationship should be, didn’t define me. I’m defined by the character I have.”
Jordan Rodgers was quickly promoted as Aaron Rodgers’ brother when his casting on The Bachelorette was announced. He even recently answered questions about his relationship with Aaron while on Katie Nolan’s Garbage Time Podcast, describing their relationship as “complicated.”
“Um, I, you know, we have, we have a relationship,” he said when asked how close he is with Aaron.
“We, you know, it’s, uh … it’s complicated. I’ll say that. One of my best friends in the world, Dave Bakhtiari, is [Aaron’s] left tackle.”
At the time he said he wasn’t sure if Aaron was watching him on the ABC reality show and he shut down Nolan’s line of questioning after she asked if he ever thought girls dated him just to get close to Aaron and his longtime girlfriend, actress Olivia Munn.
Aaron Rodgers has not commented at all about his younger brother’s comments about him on The Bachelorette, and the exact reason for his estrangement from his family is unclear. But last summer, it was rumored that Aaron chose his girlfriend, Olivia Munn, over his family. The sports blog Terez Owens posted that the beef started after Aaron no-showed at a friend’s wedding after initially agreeing to be a groomsman, so his brother Luke posted a collage of wedding pics on Instagram with the hashtags #realfriendsshowup #neverfogetwhereyoucamefrom.In addition, after Munn famously blabbed about her sex life with Aaron, his parents stopped going to Packers games that she attended.
