So of course we know some poker players are backed by someone with BIG bank roll. That ever apply to someone handicapping sports games?

Not sure why would you stake a bettor? The purpose of getting staked as a poker player is to be able to afford to get in bigger money games & tournaments.
Betting is against the house so doesn't really matter.

Yes it happens, you just don't hear about it cause sports bettors aren't as high profile as poker players. And the stakes are no where's near as big. Group betting is actually legal in Vegas now, but there is a lot of regulations involved.

When it happens it is for short term. If you can pick winners you don't need to be staked for long. Tourneys and live betting are 2 different things. There are people who are trying to do deals for the supercontest. Handicapping vs entry fee.
