Please help me understand sponges. No, I do not mean your deadbeat uncle or brother, but sponges as in cleaning your table, dishes, etc. It has been in my mind for years, why the hell do we use sponges?!
We clean something like a pan with a sponge, ring it out and then use again and again to clean other stuff. Isn't this one of the dirtiest things we could do?
I mean, you hear people talk and say things like "best time to learn a new language is when kids are little, cause they're like sponges"...meaning they retain EVERYTHING....I don't want EVERYTHING that was in that dirty pan to be there when I go to wash the next thing. Sure you throw 'em away after a number of uses, but isn't the damage done? I mean no one I know has died from using a sponge, but it just grosses me out.
Am I missing something, do I have it all wrong?
