:howdy:The Yankees are calling a press conference with Alex Rodriguez for Sunday at 11 a.m. There has been much speculation that A-Rod could be released since the team has decided to barely play him this year. A-Rod is owed the rest of his $21 million for this season and $21 million for next year. If he were let go, the Yankees would be responsible for all of it unless A-Rod agreed to return some of the money. He is under no obligation to forfeit any money.

Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees announced today that his major league playing career will end this Fri., Aug. 12, in the Bronx, 22 years, one month and four days after it began, 200 miles away. He debuted as a Seattle Mariner shortstop, July 8, 1994, at Fenway Park, and went 0-3 as the ninth batter in the order.Rodriguez said Yankees management told him he'd get a few at bats against Tampa on Friday, but he doesn't know yet whether he'll play in Boston against the Red Sox Tuesday through Thursday.
