August 30, 2016 While the Los Angeles Angels are just 57-74 this year, and seem far out of the wild card race, have not quit. The Reds are actually the better team entering play tonight. The Reds have only cost investors 5.8 units this season while the Angels have burnt 14.3 units this season. However the Angels are on a roll.
With every reason to quite, manager Mike Scioscia has not let them. The Angels are 5-1, +6.8 units in their last 6 games including winners as $1.80 & $2.20 underdogs. They have out scored their opponent 17-4 in the last 3 games after last nights 9-2 Win.
Tonight they send their long time ace Jared Weaver to the bump. Weavers’ 6.32 ERA in his last 3 Starts stands out, but looking a little deeper into those numbers shows Weaver is turning the Corner. In his last start in Toronto he held the High Powered Blue Jays to just 5 hits and 1 Earned Run in 5 & 2/3 Innings of Work before Turning it over for a 6-3 Win against the Jay’s & Their Ace JA Happ. Weaver only has 1 lifetime start against the Reds (6IP, 1ER, 2H, 2BBI, 4K) back in 2013. This also works to the Vets advantage as most of the Reds have not faced Weaver live & only have scouting reports to rely on.
