Dolphin RB Jay Ajayi ordered to stay home after whining

Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase apparently isn’t going to have much patience for players who are not with his program.
Running back Jay Ajayi started the offseason as the Dolphins starter, then the team signed Arian Foster. Foster was announced recently as the team’s Week 1 starter, and Ajayi reportedly didn’t take that news well.
Now Ajayi doesn’t have to worry about being the No. 2 back either. He was left in Miami as the rest of the team traveled to play the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

It’s pretty rare for healthy players to be left home on road trips. The Miami Herald and other outlets said it was a “coach’s decision,” so there’s not much mystery what happened.
The Herald’s Adam Beasley reported that a Dolphins player told him Ajayi was upset about being named Foster’s backup. NFL.com’s Mike Garafolo reported that the Dolphins wanted Ajayi to dig in and meet the challenge that came with competing with Foster, instead they watched him “sulk and struggle” through the preseason.
Ajayi was a hot name before the 2015 draft, but fell to the fifth round, perhaps due to concerns about his knee. He was average as a rookie, getting 187 rushing yards on 49 carries while playing behind Lamar Miller. Miller’s departure to the Houston Texans seemed to indicate a bigger role for Ajayi, but not only did he blow that for Week 1, his standing with the team going forward can’t be too secure either.

Good for Adam Gase.

Way to Take Control of a Program Adam, and lay down clear example that Whining will not be tolerated. :toast:

Now go manage to lose by less than 10 this weekend Adam and more Props from me will be forthcoming.

Let me down on this Adam and you'll cause me once again to suffer through "How TF I back these crappy teams vs. known competent ones? What TF is my malfunction?"

Save from that dark dark place Adam.

headlines will soon read "Adam Gase is racist" :ohno:

Oh. Jay Ajayi is BLACK?!!??!

Oh, yeah...then this was a total Racist Move.

On Gase's part.

What he should have done was apologized to Ajayi, given Adayi some money for food and rent then offered to buy Adayi some Crack Cocaine and a Gun then assisted Adayi in ditching his kids and walking out of their lives altogether.

"Ajayi", I thought he was east Indian, like, Hindi or something...Punjabi.

Didn't realize Ajayi was Black. BLM prolly be burning efigy's, pinata-like deals made to resemble Adam Gase, outside the stadium and if Kaep heres about Gase's Racist Move here theres a damn good chance that Colin will burst into tears.

Gase already explained that it was because of special teams for the reason of the move....and I agree with Harry Caray....Foster will get injured along the way....

AJAYI in good company:

Stat of the Night
214 - rushing yards for Ajayi, making him only the fourth running back in the history of the NFL to rush for 200 yards in back-to-back games. The others, OJ Simpson (1973, 1976), Earl Campbell (1980), and Ricky Williams (2002).

PITTSBURGH -- Mike Tomlin repeated himself -- for clarity.
"They handed it to us," the Pittsburgh Steelers coach said about the Miami Dolphins in Week 6.
Pittsburgh's jarring 30-15 loss shook the Steelers' defense at its core and sparked a four-game losing streak that could have derailed its season. Now, coming off seven straight wins, the playoff-bound Steelers should be more inspired in their tackling of the beastly Jay Ajayi, who ran on -- correction, ran through -- Pittsburgh for 204 yards.
It won't be easy.
The 6-foot, 220-pound Ajayi has a "sturdy body," sheds tackles well and is "built for combat," Tomlin said. The Steelers have struggled more than once against good offensive lines and tailbacks with a high size/speed quotient (see: Ezekiel Elliott).
It's worth noting that Pittsburgh, which was missing several starters in that Miami game due to injury, has jumped back into the NFL's top 10 in rushing defense. The Steelers have cleaned up several of their issues.
But a few snapshots from that day in Hard Rock Stadium provide the Steelers a road map for avoiding a repeat.

Players from the locker room say it all the time: Taking proper lines to the ball is crucial. Far too often, the Steelers followed the wave of Dolphins linemen without containing the edge that Ajayi so gladly took from them.
On a 20-yard gain by Ajayi, the Steelers found themselves in the middle of the play -- yet so far out of the play. Ajayi saw a sea of Steelers and bounced outside for an easy gain. The Steelers needed either Artie Burns or linebacker Jarvis Jones to wall Ajayi off and force him back inside.

The Steelers want to contain the running game with their front seven, but in recent weeks the cornerbacks have been better tacklers. The Miami game showed what happens when they don't.
On Ajayi's 62-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to seal the game, Ross Cockrell was the last line of defense but couldn't shake his block. Ajayi basically went untouched for the score.
Burns, a rookie cornerback, got the start in his hometown of Miami, but Ajayi went at him early in the game, and Burns struggled to handle Ajayi bouncing outside.

Ajayi averaged 3.92 yards per rush after contact against Pittsburgh, a sign of poor tackling. But his running holes before black-and-gold jerseys reached his vision were far more obvious.
Check this 14-yard Ajayi run where Ajayi goes almost 10 yards without a Steeler putting more than one hand on him. Both linebackers on the outside were blocked, and another got pushed inside as Ajayi cut back over the middle. Safety Mike Mitchell already had committed to the outside. Easy money for the tailback.
