Adam Jones has never been afraid to speak his mind, and with the NFL in the middle of a controversy surrounding actions taken during the national anthem, the Baltimore Orioles outfielder spoke to USA Today's Bob Nightengale this weekend about the lack of MLB support for the movement San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is spearheading in the NFL:

"We already have two strikes against us already so you might as well not kick yourself out of the game ... in football, you can't kick them out. You need those players. In baseball, they don't need us."
And then the declaration:

<iframe id="google_ads_iframe_/20893548/fscom/mlb/story_4" title="3rd party ad content" name="google_ads_iframe_/20893548/fscom/mlb/story_4" width="6" height="6" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0" style="box-sizing: border-box; display: inherit; margin: -9px; border-width: 0px; border-style: initial; vertical-align: bottom;"></iframe>
"Baseball is a white man's sport."
While Jones' comments are certainly up for interpretation, the numbers do support his claims -- as African-Americans currently represent roughly 68 percent of the NFL's players and approximately 74 percent in the NBA but only about 8 percent in MLB.
"Is Kaepernick hurting me? No. Is he hurting random people out there? No. I support his decision. At the end of the day, if you don't respect his freedoms, then why the hell are we Americans? It's supposed to be the Land of the Free, right?
"It's crazy how when people of color speak up, we're always ridiculed ... But when people that are not of color speak up, it's their right."
And when asked if an MLB player will soon replicate what Kaepernick has started in the NFL:
"No one has done it, yet ... But that's the key word here: Yet. We will see."
Jones isn't promising that he or anyone in MLB will follow Kaepernick's footsteps and start the movement within professional baseball, but he is certainly letting his voice be heard regarding this important issue in today's society.

Well look at the quote in post #2. Is that anywhere near accurate? Sick to death of these dumbfuks getting to voice their ignorant, based on lies sorry excuses for opinions. Field the ball, hit the ball, and STFU. He doesn't get paid millions to think for good reason

Regarding the quote in post 2, I'll agree. I think the media is pretty unbiased, basically ridiculing anybody about everything nowadays. But then you go on to ridicule all "these dumbfucks" about voicing their opinion. Who are "these dumbfucks?"

And, if you don't agree with the premise, that generally speaking, a black person does have more hurdles to overcome than the average white male then any conversation is moot. That's part of the conversation Colin and Adam are referring to.

Well, no the media is very biased, and it's the reverse of what Jones is claiming. I can't even count how many white people have been fired, forced to resign, sell a team, blackballed, etc. for giving opinions or even saying something in private 10-20 years ago.

Who are these dumbfuks? Well the leader, Kaepernick, is a dumbfuk. Lets forget he recently converted to Islam and his relationship with a BLM activist. Just look at what he has done at face value. He has been influenced by a few youtube videos which were blown up by the media to believe there is a war on blacks by cops which is statistically false. He wants to protest the systemic racism against people of color in the country yet he was adopted and cared for by a white family and received a scholarship to Nevada to play football which is of course what allowed him to make millions now. He wants to fight oppression but wears a Fidel Castro shirt (a communist dictator who murdered and imprisoned his way to acquiring and keeping power). That is fuking retarded. Not to mention Kaepernick has had several run ins with the law which is out to get him but he's never been convicted. Maybe he was innocent, maybe he was guilty, but those cops who were out to get him sure had plenty of chances.

What are these hurdles you speak of? We have a person of color as President. I know it drives lefties nuts but if that can happen, anyone can get a job or go to college. I am quite sure the "hurdles" you speak of are black self inflicted things such as bad schools, single parent homes, lack of role models, drugs, violence, etc. The gov., so indirectly white people, have thrown money at these problems for decades and it has gotten worse. So you talking about hurdles for blacks is like saying a fat white kid who sits on the couch eating doritos all day has hurdles to making the high school basketball team.

Lol...I don't even know where to begin, so I'll show myself out and take another figurative knee, Centaur. It's actually disappointing to me that people feel this way and are locked into their views with no desire to even contemplate others obstacles in life, not to say you or I as white males (I assume) haven't had our own different set of obstacles. It's difficult for me to even wrap my head around.

King, nothing personal intended. Our social politics obviously differ, but wish you well with your bets. I'll see you in the forums in the southern hemisphere. (Until I fall for the damn Offshore bait again sometime, lol.)

Chugs what obstacles are you referring to? I really want to know. Yes, many blacks are in bad situations, but that isn't white peoples' fault. Think about my dorito eating kid example. If you are reasonable enough to agree whites overall don't have the genetic basketball ability that blacks do, you can call it a hurdle but are you going to protest over it? Many blacks and their communities are in bad shape because of low intelligence, rampant black corruption, and lack of impulse control. It could all be turned around in one year with the govt. infusion of millions in EITCs but too many say gibs me my crack and gibs me my Jordans.

The actual obstacles like inability to own land or make money have been gone for a long long time, and under segregation which was more recent blacks actually did better.

The child can simply stop eating Doritos to make the simple change. But as an overweight individual, I know its not necessarily as easy as it sounds, but the main point is, he wasn't born with a Dorito in his mouth. Perhaps, he did watch his mother (and since he's white I'll assume you gave him as father as well) eating Doritos for his entire childhood so that's all he knows, but...that's an extremely overlysimplified and lazy analogy. Why do blacks have a genetic ability to play basketball? Because black slaves were bred to be a superior athletic specimen in the fields? YEA SLAVERY! Granted that's lazy on my part as well, and know/hope that wasn't your point.

So black communities are in bad shape because of "low intelligence, rampant black corruption and lack of impulse control." Let's say, poor educational system...And I'm done...I was going to indulge but rereading your points to counterpoint and I got to blacks were better of during segregation and I realized I'm literally wasting my time.

Ok...one more point I will make. I do agree that an individual should not be forced to lose/sell their business due to comments made in private (or public for that matter,) whether I agree with his comments or not (and I assume we're talking about Sterling here.) And frankly, that's a scary big brother concept. But, that determination was made by 28 white guys and 1 black guy (Johnson still owns a team right?) because his comments put their money in jeopardy, and that's the greatest sin of all. You have a freedom of speech, but you are not free from the consequences your speech may bring. The market forced their hand.
