Just wanted some feedback from fellow members of the RX on Marlins first game after the untimely death of their FRANCHISE SUPERSTAR?? Not trying to be inconsiderate, disrespectful, etc..BUT since they ARE PLAYING game today, what are your thoughts? I mean do they come out MOTIVATED and WIN THIS ONE FOR his LEGACY...or. .do they have SAD HEAVY HEARTS and just want to hurry and get "the game over with" and care less whether they win or not?? I would love any and all feedback...no wrong opinions so tell us how you feel about it!! SERIOUS FEEDBACK AND NO BASHERS, PLEASE!!!

I don't know...obviously emotions will be high. It would be one thing if they were out of the race, but they are technically still alive and starting a 3 game series with the Wildcard leader. They sweep the Mets and its an interesting final weekend. I'd really like to think this is a "win one for the Gipper" type situation, and they get a story book ending, but Mets aren't rolling over and need every win.

They may actually have a packed house tonight, which would be unusual for a Monday in Miami. I'm laying off altogether today, but will be rooting for them.

Conley hasn't pitched in over a month - gave up 5 & 6 runs in last two starts -Mets early then depending how far Miami is behind they rally for the win.
Tough call.

I am wondering this angle myself. The crowd factor is definitely going to help the players in my opinion. Otherwise, I really don't know how they can focus and show up here. But baseball is crazy, even if they don't show up, balls land here and there, one mispitch, very tough to predict. In my opinion if you were trying to wager this game, I would handicap this game without factoring in the Jose, and if you feel you have a play that matches your angles or whatever system you use to pull the trigger on a game, and its greater than throwing in added unpredictability from this tragic death then go for it. But I do not think it is profitable to place a wager simply based on how you think Miami wll handle the death. My thoughts tho, the crowd will be helpful for the fish, bartolo is very hittable, conley is a risk first start off the dl. I could be wrong but it looks as if vegas may have made this a shorter line, maybe anticipating some money to come in on the fish and the win one for jose angle.

Defnitely laying off. g

the Marlins cannot mathematically overtake the Mets in the standings. they would need both the Cardinals and Giants to lose out in order to make the playoffs. so there goes that.

this is incorrect, i'm an idiot. still tough for them to do but not mathematically impossible.

And in the bottom of the first Dee Gordan, the first Marlins batter, hit's his first home run of the season.

That was just a very special moment.....

How do you not shed a tear for something like this? If you are a human being, you'll certainly feel it.

Gave me the chills....

I agree, watching him run the bases and how emotional he was, then the scene in the dugout, even Colon stepped off the mound and was watching in the Marlins dugout. Very special moment.

I think it was a good thing. I think getting back on the horse as quickly as one can is the best way to heal. And boy did they do that last night. I found it a bit odd that they may or will retire his number? I am just not sure how to digest that right now. Nothing negative but is that something one should do ? I dont know, just talking to myself, it just caught me as a bit odd

I just hope things dont start to unravel on Fernandez... I am starting to hear about friends BEGGING others to not go out with him.... a stop at a bar for a while before the crash...etc

Hey we all go out and have fun and at times do things maybe a bit risky...but it troubles me that his friend was begging him or his friend to not go out and for them to make sure they controlled josh... dont' know how to read into that

But as the investigation goes on, i just hope that it was just an accident and they dont find all of this stuff on the kid... right or wrong...

It was clearly an accident.. but just baffles me to pin the boat close to shore.....in the pitch dark....you only have the lights that you have in front of you.....you steer...you have lights....otherwise..it's too dark....and to be going that fast....someone had to have some major balls.....

The irony of life.....if the mets were not in contention.. Jose may have still been alive today...they pushed his start back because they wanted to make it harder for the mets ... Jose was viturely un beatable at home...so rather then starting him against the braves...they saved him for the mets... therfore he was off and had the time.....really sucks.. take each day like it's your last one..
