While some NFL players are still protesting during the national anthem, in the NBA — New York Knick Joakim Noah has sparked controversy for a whole different reason.
On Thursday, Noah chose to skip a dinner at West Point with military cadets, the same venue where the Knicks have held their training camp for a number of years. However, likeKaepernick, he decided to use the headline-grabbing decision to make a political point.

Noah said:
"It's hard for me a little bit. I have a lot of respect for the kids who are out here fighting. But it's hard for me to understand why we have to go to war, why kids have to kill kids around the world.
So I have mixed feelings about being here. I'm very proud of this country. I love America but I just don't understand kids killing kids around the world."
Independent Journal Review decided to see what West Point graduates think about Noah's comments. We talked to Nick Palmisciano, a West Point grad, Army veteran and captain.

He said:
"Whenever one of these types of things pop up, I kind of have an eye roll moment. I see this kind of stuff as self-aggrandizing. This doesn't solve anything, it shows a lack of understanding about what it is that the military does, and really only calls attention to the individual. I see them as publicity stunts by people who think too highly of themselves.
He judged an entire group of people based on their chosen profession. This is no more ignorant than judging all police because of one bad shooting or all black people because of one criminal. As soon as you start generalizing people, their motives, their beliefs, you are part of the problem."
Palmisiciano continued:
"There are plenty of people in the U.S. that are strong supporters of the military. That isn't present in a lot of countries, and we are very fortunate. Is it irksome when someone takes the national stage to talk down to the military? Yes. But does anything change because of Noah? No. Guys still deploy tomorrow. National policy doesn't change.
There is still a job to do. And the men and women in uniform rely on each other to get that done, not a guy who plays a game for a living.
And again, it's their right. I think both of these guys, Kaepernick included, think they are doing the right thing and they think that what they are doing is important, so I can't really judge them for that. But the reality is that these pseudo-stands are just as worthless as the hashtag of the day. #bringbackourgirls"
And said of Noah's "kids killing kids" comments:
"The military does more humanitarian aid than any entity on the planet. It's there in times of international crisis. It's there most of the time for peacekeeping: preventing the slaughter of women and children in Bosnia, Kosovo, for example. And yes, it goes to war.
But the people serving don't decide when that happens. If you are upset about kids killing kids, then elect better politicians and take a stand against them. The military doesn't decide. It acts. When it has good leaders, it acts in the best interests of the nation and the world."
Palmisiciano finished by saying, "It's hard for him to sit down? He needs to grow a pair. Sitting down with people you're uncomfortable with is the only way you bridge any divide."

More honor, respect, decency and work ethic exists at West Point than in every professional sports organization in this country combined

They're collectively a POS when compared to cadets

Individually, there are exceptions

As members of a military academy that haven't served a day on active duty, military cadets aren't putting anyone in their place. Noah is a giant douche though.
