West coast week 8

First a warning...
For some reason about which I have few clues, week#8 has been like a curse on me.
The only explanation I've been able to come up with is a pretty thin one, that being
teams that have been non-performers finally gel at this point. But it so happens to
occur in bunches. Therefor I'm taking it light and will try to stick exclusively with
just a couple of what looks like probable sure things. I will make my leans known.
Patience. Things should return to normal next week.

I don't think it matters a whole lot where ASU plays. If they are up against a
formidable opponent, they'll collapse. Colorado didn't just beat them last week
they beat them up. They could really use a good quarterback in Tempe. I think
that honor will go to Luke Falk in this game. I'm being impressed more and
more with Mike Leach's balanced offense. All the better to own their opponents.
The Coogs defense has also been playing well.

good to see we are on the same side. I posted this last night and got it @ - 6.5. ASU plays better at home but ranked last against the pass going against Falk and company in what is a much more balanced attack this season. Add to that they allowed 315 on the ground to CO. ASU will put out a better effort but they are in trouble here. Wash State should win by 14 plus

Haven't seen a TT on CAL yet but I'd put it around 43. This is going to be a wild one but I'm just not sure
how Oregon will contribute with their new QB. That won't be a problem for Davis Webb. He should be able
to walk right through Oregon's porous defense. I'll hit it for the over as soon as I see it.

Conan, hope all is well brother. Was just talking about this game as a possible play. I have an affinity for offensive minded coaches, and thus Mike leach is one of my favorites. I pay close attention to Washington state as a result of my love for offense. I think this is a perfect spot for the cougs. This Washington state offense is going to throw for 500+ yards easily on arguably the worst pass defense in the PAC 12. Arizona state can put up points as well so obviously we're going to see some points. Surprisingly though, this Washington state team can play a little defense from time to time. I expect them to get enough stops to allow falk and the offense to pull away. I'm gonna wait and see where $ takes this line, but I'll most likely be playing this right along with you.

This washington state team could be a dangerous out for any PAC 12 team with New Years six dreams.

A couple of more ideas that might work.

UDub has been pounding the crap out of most however the Beavers resurgence
evidenced by their ability to stay in games leads me to believe that 5 TDs may be
a little bit too large. No, I doubt that they will stay that close here but their defense
has been looking pretty good. Hanging close to Utah last week after beating CAL
would have been unthinkable last year. They now have 2 legitimate ball carriers in
the person of Ryan Nall AND Victor Bolden. Their A&M transfer QB Darell Garretson
is down for the count this year but they have a kid named Marcus Maryion who's
name might be a bit prophetic. I know the kid's got some game in him. I watched
him play this past fall camp and he's got an arm and he can also scramble. Question
is will he have enough protection? Gary Anderson has his team's attention and it
shows. Lean on OSU +36

How big of a loss is Garretson for those Beavers, notice he is out? Looks like market jumped on it, opened -30 and now -36. I made it -29 but typically don't like to dabble with dogs of this magnitude. They do have a road trip to Utah coming, so maybe there could be incentive to rest starters after a comfy lead has been established, thereby leaving that back door ajar.

It looks like everyone will get a piece of Oregon this year. Can't think
of anyone they can beat. Normally you don't mess with the Bears at
home in big games like this one is as far as they're concerned. This
game is normally.

Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey remains questionable vs. Colorado

STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey remains "questionable" with an undisclosed injury heading into Saturday's game against Colorado, coach David Shaw said Tuesday.
"He feels a lot better," Shaw said. "We'll get him on the field to do some things today."
McCaffrey, however, will not rejoin a full practice until later this week at the earliest. Shaw would only say McCaffrey was "banged up" after he left during the second half of Stanford's loss to Washington State two weeks ago.
If McCaffrey doesn't rejoin practice this week, Shaw said his availability will again be a pregame decision. The Cardinal ruled McCaffrey out a few hours before their 17-10 win over Notre Dame last Saturday. Bryce Love made his first career start in that game, rushing for 129 yards and the winning touchdown on 6.3 yards per carry.
In other injury news, Stanford fullback Daniel Marx will miss his fourth straight game. The Cardinal might also be without versatile offensive lineman David Bright against Colorado, as Shaw classified him as "doubtful".
Cornerback Alijah Holder, who has missed three straight games, has improved to "questionable" status this week after being termed "doubtful" leading into the Notre Dame game.
Fellow corner Quenton Meeks and receiver Francis Owusu both went through their first game back from injury unscathed, so both are expected to be full-go against Colorado.

When Quentin Meeks gets a clean bill of health Stanford's defense will be at full strength.
For now they have holes to fill.

FYI..Davis Webb injured his throwing had 2nd possession against Oregon St. Which is why his despite throwing 44 passes, he only threw for 144 yards. Do not know if it was a break of any type. But Cal should be able to run on Oregon at will.

It seems that Clay Helton has escaped the hot seat in the Pac.
Congrats goes to the new king of the hot seat throne, Jim Mora.

Interesting read... some facts to keep in mind.

After a horrific start, which included a 46-point loss to Alabama in the opener, it seemed as if Helton might not make it through his first full season as USC's coach. Since switching to freshman quarterback Sam Darnold, the Trojans have won three of four games and are suddenly the hottest team in the Pac-12 South.

While USC seems to be getting better every week, crosstown rival UCLA seems to be getting worse. The Bruins have dropped three of their past four games, and the bleeding probably won't stop unless quarterback Josh Rosen returns from injury soon. Even with Rosen, UCLA's offense hasn't been nearly as potent without former coordinator Noel Mazzone, who left for Texas A&M after the 2015 season. If UCLA doesn't turn things around, coach Jim Mora might be under a lot of pressure to win in 2017.

The bad part about having the most brutal schedule in the country are the wins/losses. The good part is being battle tested and tougher to beat down the stretch in conference play. That is if they can stay healthy...

Honestly. I see the winner of Cal/ Oregon as the one who has the ball last. There is a reason the oddsmakers made this 87.5 and it will go over.

I agree with "Coitus": The final score could easily end-up 49-45 (take your pick as to which team ends-up with the 49). The wild-card will be whether several players could end-up having to deal with the "shits" or some other debilitating physical affect(s) which can hinder offensive play on game day. This bodily mal-function occurs more than we realize.......Especially with kids......

Unfortunately, stomach bugs that cause the "shits" and other intestinal dis-orders never make the Injury Reports.
