The first game today we had the line set too high. In this game I think it is set too low. Lackey is old as hell and Urias is simply wild at times. Nice story with the kid from Cleveland, Merrit helping clinch their WS birth. But not sure if we see same success out of these pitchers. Nice run of unders in the mlb playoffs right now should get broken tonight, no andrew miller in these pens...i like the chances of this total reaching

Over 7 -123

Dodgers 1st 5 innings -118

I meant game 4.

Not sure what the point of replay in baseball is if they don't want to overturn close plays. The point of it should be for those bang bang plays
Maybe they want the cubs to win. Not sure.

Adrian Gonzalez should of just stfu right there in the 2nd inning. Might of called him safe lol then who knows.

He was absolutely, clearly safe.

Think about millions and millions of dollars.

7 game series, finals or semifinals in MLB, NHL, NBA:

One team up, 2-1.

  • It is financially optimal for the team down to win, pushing the series to 2-2.

  • It ensures at least 2 more TV games, possibly 3.

  • Fan interest peaks!

  • If 2-1 team wins, it goes to 3-1, fan interest tanks significantly.

Real talk. At live speed Gonzalez knew he was safe immediately. Cubs catcher wasn't sure. The reactions say everything. It will go to game 7 unless dodgers win next 2. Dodgers will win at least 1 more.

Might keep this thread going since it says game 5. I like the dodgers tonight. Line is off imo.

I normally don't believe in conspiracy theories (other than the obvious screw job in Toledo-Syracuse) but I did immediately think that when Turner was punched out on what was clearly Ball 4 and the obvious missed call at home that cost the Dodgers a run. Felt like the powers that be wanted the Cubs to win

That wasn't conspiracy.

That was Angel Hernandez, one of the worst umpires in the league. How he is working this series is beyond comprehension. He is a not only a terrible umpire but a GR1 Douchebag on the field too.

I agree that from the replays shown on FS1, he appeared safe. Joe Buck strongly felt he was safe too. But how does overturning one run in the 2nd inning of G4, ensure seven games will be played?

Seen a lot worse replays not be overturned due to lack of video evidence than that one in NFL and they've been doing it for a decade plus. And arguable balls and strikes happen in every single game, every day of the regular season.

I thought the goat was supposed to make it all against the Cubs?

I don't believe in that billy goat crap. But I believe in incentive and how can we maximize out profit and profile for the game of baseball? I don't care what anyone thinks. There is no way they aren't thinking........if cubs are in it are ratings will go through the roof. Down 3-1 in the series it was over with Kershaw waiting.

Usually the breaks happen in the home teams favor. Except last night all the breaks were going the opposite way in 2-1 series. L

Its too hard for me to compare nfl with mlb and the nba as far as refs making calls. It's way different

Come on man. Cubs fans shouldn't be mocking other fan's conspiracy theories considering you guys blame some goat and a nerd wearing headphones for not winning the World Series. LOL.

No, I get what you're saying and I get the theory, I just hear it more in NBA and not sure I buy it here or there. Obviously, Cubs would be the better national story, but if they lose they get the LA market and a superstar in Kershaw (and to some extent the northeast and throughout - Dodgers fans everywhere.) It's not like if Cubs lose the Brewers are going.

And, no, I don't believe in Goats or blame Bartman. Now...I will say I was pretty livid with that 8th inning in '03 and Bartman (and Alex Gonzalez) did get cussed, but that passed quickly...well the Bartman blame passed quickly, that inning lingers on.

The ball they rung up Baez on was a foot outside. And they didn't say shit about it in the booth.

And they're squeezing Lester.

Fix must be in for LA this game.
