I have drunken boated before, but on a pontoon in a big lake and was under control. How dumb to take a power boat out in darken ocean water. Didn't he know that jetty was there? Don't they drug test during the season? No hero here.

It's a given most athletes are pretty stupid. Add to that the sense of entitlement and invincibility it's no surprise.

My thought was the same. 21 year old kid with millions and some pals doing a bunch of booze then a few bumps and driving a very fast boat. 50 on water is like a hundred in a car. I did a lot of drunk boating in my time but never in a boat as fast as his ( mostly sailboats). It was a poor choice to go out let alone rip around wide open at 50 + mph.
