LAS VEGAS -- The Dallas Cowboys are not only 7-1 and holding the inside track on home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs at the de facto midpoint of the NFL season, but they've also been the best team to bettors with a 7-0-1 ATS record, including seven straight covers. The Cowboys lost 20-19 to the New York Giantsin the season opener to push after closing as 1-point home underdogs. But they have won and covered their past seven, with the closest call being in Week 9 when they had to go to overtime and then get a touchdown to win/cover 29-23 as 5-point home favorites over the Philadelphia Eagles.
The records below are graded against the ViewFromVegas.com Consensus Closing Lines using the 13 Las Vegas-based sports books on the Don Best Sports odds screen (there were 14 at the start of the season, but the Aliante in North Las Vegas was bought by the Boyd Gaming group and is now a satellite book).
The best "over" team so far is the Atlanta Falcons at 8-1, including a four-game over streak. The Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans (riding a league-high six-game over streak) are all 7-2 with the over. The top under record is 6-2 and shared by the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs and Arizona Cardinals.
Note: Records based on ViewFromVegas.com Consensus Closing Lines; teams ranked by ATS records with SU record the first tiebreaker followed by ATS streak.
