with today's tax laws, they know just about everything about your financial transactions already

I'm sure but I have been doing online banking for years and this just pulls from there so no real difference really. Only other option would be to get rid of online banking and/or keep money under the mattress.

Then you would also need to remove the strip inside every bill to make it untraceable
