Other than Obama care raising my health premiums, I cannot think of any direct actions that any of them have ever done that have dramatically effected my life. I am sure there has been motions set into place that eventually happened and small changes were made that rolled into my life, but nothing drastic or life changing.... Does anyone else have an experience of a presidents actions altering their life?
Not a president directly. But the last time republicans took control of everything in the early 90's it effected almost all of us on this board negatively. It allowed them to sneak the anti-gambling bill onto some kind of port authority bill after 9/11 which is why we all make bullshit topics like this all day instead of which books are ripping people off, which books have the best bonuses. etc etc. No offense to your topic.
It was a damn shame, Reid and other republicans where trying every trick in the book to try to sneak it though but could never do it. It finally did get through and now nobody (dems or reps) will ever care about the issue enough to try to repeal it.

heath insurance costs, as you mentioned, is the only thing that ever directly impacted me
other than that, they usually just make me busier, they make my phone ring more and I get to increase fees

FYI, Reid is a Dem. I agree though that sneaking that gambling stuff into the bill was an atrocity. That's business as usually in Washington though. Happens all the time, piggybacking unrelated legislation. The worst part about the gambling bill was they tried and tried and tried to pass it on its own merits and it was rejected time and time again. Unfortunately, the joining of unrelated bills is a necessary evil. If I recall, this one was particularly distasteful as it was slipped in after midnight the day the bill was to be voted on so it didn't really go through proper channels.
