How about: They won their conference, and OSU didn't. This ain't like converting Cº to Fº - this is easy, logical stuff. If you don't win your conference, you don't go to the playoff.

No I agree...

psu was also down 5 of their top 6 lbs along with a ton of other injuries....

end of season different team

win or lose the rose bowl....the committee made a mistake...psu earned the spot

The committee didn't get it wrong, the entire country did. The big ten was overrated. Some idiots thought they should get 2 teams in, sorry but the big ten doesnt match up with the speed of the powerhouse teams in other conferences. Ohio state looked like shit, so did Michigan. I hope the big 10 goes 0-3 today.

Penn St lost in Sept, finished strong, beat Ohio St and won the conference title

They should have been picked, they couldn't have done worse

Although I wouldn't change a thing today

Clemson would of put up 60 on penn st ! If u lose twice u don't deserve to play in playoff

There is a reason why thy beat osu....they are a better team...

Maybe, maybe not. But it doesn't matter. They are the B1G champs and were therefore more deserving of being in the playoff.

They had 2 losses, that just doesn't work well when trying to enter a 4 team playoff. Lets see if PSU gives USC a competitive game, if that one is 31 to 0 you have NO case. I don't remember much about it but about 15 years ago when a 2 loss Colorado team beat the shit out of Nebraska and then beat Texas for the Big 12 Championship and Nebraska was put into the BCS Natty Championship game because they only had 1 loss..... did people piss and moan about that as much at that time?

The only thing they got right was who was #1. How was ohio state not a #4 not winning there conference. All about the Dollars. Washington could have given clemson a run for the money but would have been boring to see huskies play bama. Another superbowl between these 2 brings home the bacon

I suspect that the committee thought the ideal match-up would be Alabama vs Ohio State (Saban vs Meyer); It's all about money and TV guys.......

An if USC beats PSU 38 to 3 do USC fans have a case they should have been in the playoffs as 1 of the 4 best teams at the end of the season?

Plenty of people pissed and moaned about that, both in Oregon and Colorado. The BCS got it wrong and I think the committee got it wrong in 2016. I'm not using 31-0 for the justification, I think the big 10 championship + H2H victory trumps the extra loss. A extra loss that that occurred in the beginning of the season, which historically has always carried weight. Championship football is played in November.

Should be 8 team playoff, power 5 conference champs all get a seat, three at large, top 4 teams play the first playoff game at home....

not a hard thing to come up with and solves the fans not having to travel for 3 games if make it to the championship.

So, as a 2 loss team that won a major conference championship- unbeaten in conference- did Oklahoma belong in the playoffs? Why or why not?

Unfortunately Oklahoma is penalized for being in an asshole conference....and one less game. Plus, Ohio St is a convenient blemish.
