San Fran will start the new year with their 4th coach in 26 months.

It is the second time in a year Kelly has been fired; last season, he was let go by the Philadelphia Eagles before the regular-season finale of his third year with the team. But as sentiment started to grow that Niners CEO Jed York might part ways with Baalke, it became obvious that Kelly might be collateral damage; any new general manager would want to hire his own guy as coach, not be forced to work with Kelly.

I wonder what is next for Chip...

I'd love to know behind the scenes with him.. we never will, I'd love to know the real reason it's not working with him

I'm not sure if Chip is still being paid by the Eagles?

He may be getting paid by 2 teams not to coach, just like Charlie Weiss!

How much money is York going to be paying out to all the people he's fired over the last two years? Maybe Kelly is impossible to work with, but firing him one year into a multiyear contract seems like a rush to judgement imo. I remember Parcells sucked initially as the Giants head coach, but he got a chance to turn the team around and eventually brought 2 SB titles to NY. I guess it's business as usual these days to fire guys quickly, but what chance did Kelly really have to build a winning team?

This is one of the dumbest things I've seen in recent memory. PLENTY of great coaches had bad records in their first year, and what was Kelly going to do with BLAINE GABBERT and Kap as his starting QBs??? The entire country knew they were finishing below .500 in August.

Is Jed mad they didn't reach their 6-10 ceiling or something? He's the definition of a clown who literally has no business being in a position of power in the NFL. It's sad that people like this actually have jobs in the sport

but going 0-14 to everyone but the Rams was not expected

i thought they were fairly competitive, unlike CLE and LAR, especially at home.

after harbaugh and kelly not sure why anyone of substance would want to coach there anyway

The joke of a GM shouldve been fired 2 years ago instead of Harbaugh, but as a Michigan fan i'll take it. I don't give a shit how big of a pain in the ass a coach might be, if you go to 3 NFC champ games in a row and a super bowl you let him do whatever he wants. Good job on firing him and then winning less games in 2 years combined then Harbaugh did in his worst single year there.

Too many team fire coaches without a legitimate chance to make things work.

A coach needs at least 3 years to turn things around when a team is this bad...

The teams that keep firing coaches every couple of years never turn it around...

Chip belongs with a College team, he is Not an NFL coach.

But I guess he doesn't care if he's still getting paid...

You could give Kelly 5 Years and he still wouldn't be a Good NFL coach.

just my 2 cents
