Congratulations to Clemson University. Just think, if NC State doesn't miss that field goal we aren't talking about you winning a National Championship. Which is why the playoffs need more teams. Every single analyst and announcer was ready to give Bama the trophy without even playing the game. All you heard was, this is the best Defense Bama has ever had, this is the best Defense ever in the history of the NCAA. Stupid comments like this is why espn has been going downhill and if it weren't for their TV deals they would be toast. Well, that great Defense just gave up 35 points, 21 of them in the 4Q. Before last night that great Bama D had only given up 3 total TDs in the 4Q the whole season. Maybe that Defense had such low numbers because the teams they played had shit offenses??? Don't give me USC either because that is a different team than in September. Imagine if they expanded the Playoffs and we had more good teams that deserved to have a shot at a National Championship; like PSU or FSU or Oklahoma or USC or other deserving teams. It doesn't water down or make the regular season any less important either. Yea you could lose 2 games and still get in but if those 2 games are to crap opponents compared to quality opponents you're chances of getting in are very slim. I think they should bring back the BCS formula or have something similar to that to determine the 6, 8, 12, or however many teams they take instead of having a probably bought and paid for committee choosing who is in and where the teams play.

I agree about expanding the playoffs, otherwise we're gonna see a lot more players sitting out of those meaningless bowl games

i've been saying 8 team playoffs even when we were stuck with the BCS

and Bama's dee was fantastic this year. Sure, they didnt face but one or two teams with a good offense so their stats were better than perhaps people thought.
It took one of the best offenses in CFB this year to beat them.

it does baffle me that teams continue to try and run on Bama. it's been shown repeatedly if you want to beat the Tide you need a fast, pass heavy offense with a very mobile QB.
It was unfortunate a good team like Washington was married to the idea of offensive "balance" because it killed them. And you dont have to go pass-happy (ala TTech, Wazzu) but
the only way to keep Bama's dee from crushing you is to pass more often. Of course, not many offenses around have that capability, especially this year's SEC teams.

Clemson ran the ball to wear them down and it worked! Bama offense couldn't rely on the d to win again for them

I think it's funny that people make these assumptions due to what they hear all the talking heads saying or what they think they might know. There is more than one team that could give Bama or Clemson or any other team a fight and possibly win. That's why they play the games and that's why they need to expand the playoffs. They also need to play some of these games in the North. It would make it more of an equal playing field if these SEC/PAC 12/Big 12 schools had to play in the cold to determine who the better team was.

No need to expand. There are only 4 VERY GOOD teams in college football. 5-8 would not be able to hang w/ any of them. Just my opinion.

We would never know if they never get the chance. There's a reason teams like Pitt upset conference champions and why the books always win in the long run.

SDF I was at the Bama/UW game at G-Dome. Problem with UW was that QB Browning could not get the ball downfield. He had 1 nice throw early on first TD drive, but he never tested the middle of the field and never threw a pass beyond 8-10 yards. As a matter of fact, I mentioned to my son who was with me that the Bama DBs/LBs were running the routes better than the UW receivers. He was locking in on one receiver the entire game. Like you said, shame because the UW defense played pretty well other than the 2 Bo runs. I would also add that you have to stay on the field and run plays. Bama is not as deep due to the injuries they sustained and their big guys were gassed . Additionally, their DB's are good, but not great. But that's due again to the injuries as they've had to shuffle guys around. Fitzpatrick is a lockdown corner, but he's had to play safety since injuries to I believe Eddie Jackson.

I dont agree with this. Presumably the 1 & 2 seeds would have a bye. They would be at a huge disadvantage with the long layoff.
I like the 6 team format with the top teams getting a bye (reward) and let teams 3 and 4 host games on their campus sites (reward the fans). Or go to 8 teams with teams 1-4 hosting the first round on campus. But I would also want the games started after final exams and then play every 2 weeks so that they are done on Jan 9th. Also, teams that lose in the first round get to go to play in other bowl games.

The 2 best teams may very well have played in the title game, but I guess that means NE and Dallas should be playing the Super Bowl this weekend. That's what's great about the NFL playoffs. It gives other teams a chance to knock off the "favorites" and possibly win it all themselves. Who's to say USC or PSU wouldn't have won or given any of the 4 a good run for their money? Albatross, I've said this before, they need to shorten the layoff to no more than 2 weeks and get rid of some of the bowls. I don't get why they can't take a page from every other Division's book and have a playoff like them. Play every week and all.

If you don`t agree no problem.....You have 165 teams.....Might as well add a couple more.

And they will eventually....Sooner then later.

You can't go more than 8. Is 8 too many? A team that goes 13-0 shouldn't have to win 3 more. 6 would be good but that extra week off makes 2 and 3 seed a big deal.

Conference championship games mess it up. But that sure as he'll won't change. 4 just has to work as it is n9w. Need to tweak seeds so a team can't get in over a)a team that beat them and has the same overall record.
B) that beat them in conference. Like if Florida had beat Alabama, Alabama would have been elimated unless Florida ended up in top 3 in the bcs
