Texans Pro Bowl defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was fined $18,231 for an unnecessary roughness penalty for his late hit on New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady, according to the NFL.

Clowney was penalized for roughing the passer during a completed pass to running back Dion Lewis during the Texans' AFC divisional-round playoff game loss at Gillette Stadium last Saturday.

Clowney tackled Brady after an incomplete pass during a separate play, but wasn't flagged. Brady complained to officials about the lack of a flag.
Clowney withdrew from the Pro Bowl this week due to elbow and wrist injuries.

He was replaced in the Pro Bowl by Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap.
