Wormy Pix Playoffs Pick of the Week (Conference)

Wow, GB & ATL looked impressive. GB left the backdoor open for DAL to rob a victory, but Rodgers, Cook & Crosby closed that door quick. ATL dissected SEA on both sides of the ball. This is going to be a great Sunday for football.

Regular Season: POW 10-5-2, Teasers 11-6, Overall 43-28-3 (44-29-3 undocumented), GOY 0-1.

POs: 1-0, Overall 2-0 (POW 2-0, Overall 4-0 undocumented).

ATL (-6) is flying under the radar somehow despite being the #1 “O” & having arguably the best QB in the league this yr. Rodgers has fans believing that it’s their destiny to win the SB this yr because of the incredible comeback from the brink & impressive victories over DAL & NYG. I was believing as well, however after watching how focused & driven ATL was as a team vs SEA, I’ve hopped the fence. GB has been extremely fortunate so far, starting w/6 gm win streak against subpar teams (toughest teams being SEA & DET) to get to POs, then having Odell dropping critical, easy balls & finally facing a rookie QB that I felt wasn’t ready for a marquee matchup just yet. ATL’s schedule hasn’t been great either, however despite their struggles NOR, CAR & TB were all capable clubs that just could not be consistent but were very dangerous. The fact that SEA blew out DET, then ATL blew SEA out should be relevant here if those 2 teams were truly GB’s toughest tests. Rodgers’ 4[SUP]th[/SUP] quarter record was shocking to me when I saw it. He is currently 7-27 in reg season & 1-4 in POs when entering the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] down. That’s amazing when you think about how great of a passer he is. I began watching for this only this yr. GB’s gm @ ATL added to that dubious record. However that gm could not be blamed on Rodgers as he put GB ahead halfway thru the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] w/a TD pass & 2 pt conversion to go up by 6 (not sure why they went for 2) only to have Ryan engineer a TD drive w/less than 4 min. GB has 31 seconds left & a timeout to attempt a FG but Rodgers threw 3 straight incompletions. If ATL can take a big lead early or @ least keep it close in 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] half, they should have no problems covering. ATL’s young “D” under Dan Quinn has taken huge strides since the beginning of the season. The going should only be easier w/Jordy, Adams, Janis & Allison all nursing various injuries. On “D” for GB the key injury is S Morgan Burnett who would be critical to an already banged up secondary against the most explosive “O” in the NFL. ATL’s RBs will cause major problems for GB’s “D” too because of their running & catching (Freeman had a TD receiving & running vs GB, w/Coleman out). Sharp money is driving the number up currently as the public is all over GB. Matt Ryan gets the monkey off his back & gets ATL to only their 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] SB in the team’s history.

1 Unit NE -6: Public is all over NE as well but they may be rt here. PIT seems to be the darling pick actually, but Ben’s performance on the rd can’t be ignored. Just the difference in his accuracy between MIA & KC gm should already make people worried. Bell & Brown are gm changers, but Belicheat can take @ least one of them away (possibly both w/LB spy on Bell & doubling Brown all gm). So Jesse James & Eli Rogers might have big gms (prop bet anyone?) but will it be enough to overcome NE’s “O” @ hm? Tough sell.

I thought the same, Juice. But all the Vegas insider articles I'm seeing say public is driving NE # up & sharps are driving ATL.

It also jibes w/my coworkers & handful of friends who seem to be majority on NE & GB. I have a feeling NE has won $ for a lot of folks over the season so they've got good vibes w/Patsies. I can't stand NE, so if they lose my heart will not be broken.

Lol! Sorry bud, indeed I was riding that GB wagon from Wk 17 on! But ATL has so much more balance across the board whereas GB is dangerously close to being a one trick pony. I'm also glad to hear that GB is a media darling this wk because as you allude to, this only feeds the opposing team to prove them wrong.

Absolutely Gravy, if GB was @ full strength this likely would've been a different gm. But you saw how awful their secondary played. They had a lot of shots @ INTs. And the WRs were too banged up too, making it easier for ATL's "D" to contain Rodgers. Ripkowski's fumble in 1st Q was a huge gm changer also. I think ATL still would've covered but it might've been a tighter gm if they scored on that drive.

Also, my final score predictions have been pretty close this yr. I should start playing them. After saying that, I'm sure my SB prediction will be a loser!

Oh man, who knows huh? I used to preach that Moore was the better QB, but now w/Gase in town Tannehill has taken a turn. We really need to shore up the secondary & LBs. Hit both hard in FA & draft.

Thanks Varks! Well, not exactly, I predicted a 11 pt win only! I also got lucky w/the prop bet I recommended in the NE writeup. I should've played Eli Rogers Over as well, but hit a unit on Jesse James Over 3 1/2 receptions.
