Great class, but to have a top 100 player commit to grey-shirt is unheard of.

Very impressive

yeah, pretty bizarre but i laid out the situation in the SEC thread before he snagged up the greyshirt

greyshirts are non-binding offers. He can drop us for another school and enroll anywhere he chooses in Jan 2018 or pay his own way for Bama fall 2017.

He had a committable offer from Bama for a year but didn't take it...wanted to check out Fla, FSU, UGA, Auburn and decided on Auburn. Then, this morning, the barn gets a signature from a higher rated kid, same position, and completely unexpected which pushed the kid out of the program.

feel bad for the kid but all of this drama and trolling was bound to bit someone on the ass. This is non-binding until he starts attending classes in Fall 2016 but his schollie won't kick in until Jan 2018, as of today.

I write "as of today" because Bama had 5 scholarship players leave b/w Spring Ball and Aug 1 last year so this kid can easily grab a scholarship honored for Fall 2016 and I'd be surprised if we went through the spring without attrition.

Most impressed with Dawgs OL....for once we got one hell of a road grader class. Stocked up on DBs. Needed a great class because the '18 state class isnt all that strong. Watch out for the GA state '19 class.....its just down right nasty. Kirby keeps on with keeping the homegrown home, it will be one for the ages.

Full court press is on for Zamier White next year. He is a must get.

I live in Sebastian where this kid played high school football. I went to the same school and I know his mom. One of my friends daughters is real good friends with him. By all accounts he is a fantastic kid and is super nice. He worked at a grocery store about a mile from my house. With all that said I feel like it was a really bad decision to take a gray shirt with bama. Frankly, I didn't think him going to bama at all was a good fit for him, but its his life, his decision and i hope it works out for him. He is an extremely raw talent so I personally feel like he is already going to be behind the 8 ball at bama cause they have more developed kids all over the field and by taking the gray shirt and not being allowed to practice with the team he is going to be even further behind other players. Wishing him the best but I would've gone somewhere else if I was him. Mama is a big Florida fan, i'm sure they wouldve loved to had him

There is also a 0% chance Nick Saban didn't know he was commiting to bama. This kid flew to Paris France and did a commitment video in front of the Effiel Tower. No way saban didn't know about it well before hand imo. Yet he waits until signing day to say sorry, we dont have room for you now.

Yes, the gray-shirt thing is unbelievable.

I won't be surprised if he ends up in school as part of the class in August. You know someone's going to transfer or not qualify.

Still hard to believe a top-100 kid would take a GS.

That's a great story - just not true. Parks never decided to sign with Auburn. AU reached out to Parks but he had no interest. Even canceled his scheduled visit (January 20 - 22). The article by Jon Santucci in the TCpalm is complete BS.

As for Bryant's commitment pushing Parks out - again, not true. Auburn would have taken another weak side DE. They had planned on signing a combination of 3 ends (weak side and strong side). Matter of fact, they would have taken four if they were the right four. The three they were hoping (and expecting) to sign were Markaviest Bryant, Alec Jackson and Ryan Johnson. Bryant had been a heavy AU lean for awhile but it looked like he might end up at LSU. Fortunately for AU he didn't. His commitment may have surprised some but was far from 'completely unexpected'. Johnson committed to Stanford freeing up a spot. A spot AU would have gladly used for Parks had he decided to commit.

What is your point? (if you have one)

The crystal ball prediction you posted was some clown's prediction on Tuesday night. LSU made a big late move for Bryant. I can certainly see why someone would predict LSU at that time. But up to that point most knowledgeable people predicted Auburn. His final pick could have gone either way. It certainly wasn't completely unexpected as you described.

As for Auburn offering Shelton Felton (Bryant’s coach at Crisp County) a job, I'm told it is true. I certainly hope it is and I hope the proposed legislation doesn't prevent it from happening. Felton is a solid coach which numerous college offers. And yes, LSU and Ga both offered.

If AU got Bryant because of Felton, good for them. Bama has set the bar high when it comes to hiring off the field analysts. Time for AU and the other conference schools to play catch-up. After all, it's not like they built his high school a new playing field or paid a coach $400,000 for an over-rated defensive tackle.

The new detail that may or may not be true is that Parks is now going to not be gray shirted. Which i'm guessing would mean that Bama would have to make room for him somehow. Again, I don't know this as a fact as its not being reported anywhere yet, I just heard it 3rd person from one of his friends this morning.

GREY SHIRT, BLUE SHIRT, ORANGE SHIRT....

Georgia has recruited a nice class of high school kids.

NOW, Can Smart in his second season get organized and get the job done.

If ACT I last year is the indicator.........much improvement is needed from the head coach.
