5 years 85 million, with a ton of guaranteed money, likely an opt out for either side after four years.

5 yr, 85M? lol

just got done giving him almost 9M/yr and he made almost 11M last year. He's only making <5M next year because he took several advances on future money to get paid now. you can't keep taking advances on future money then keep expecting that same payment...

i say sign and trade or trade for picks.

If Smokey the Bong can put the pipe down we have him, Wheaton, Sammy Stone Hands, Eli Rogers, Wee-Bay, and that Arkansas kid. That's enough to give Ben some hope with a couple decent TE's as well. Still would like to add OJ Howard in the draft. We can score plenty with those guys without giving some dude 10M/yr

I agree, the move is to deal him, but not sure they will. Can't give a WR his age a super huge deal and expect it to pay off for the team. He wants more than Green, and I believe his deal 4/60M.

As Pittsburgh locals, what's the deal with AB and the fanbase? I spend a lot of time in Pittsburgh for work and was a bit surprised at all the negative comments I heard from the locals regarding AB. I don't follow the team, but always thought he was popular with the fans.

nah, same as Ben. arrogant dickhead that you hope for the worst unless he is wearing black-and-gold

i love the AB story..dude went from homeless teenager to having a 500k Rolls with his signature on the side...but he's an asshole, just like Ben. I wish he would pledge to ante up the same money he's fined every year for end zone celebrations (which is probably 200k+) to help other homeless children but he figures he's made it and the rest of the world be damned.

I guess Ben has reinvented his image a bit since he doesn't go out much with the wife and kids around (post-rape, of course) but he was a total dick when single (the serial raping days). He use to roll at Rolands and stand behind the horseshoe bar with two bodyguards on each tip of the shoe to make sure people couldn't talk to him...and, of course, demand free drinks all night from the owner who hated his entitled ass

AB's a fn asshole...hell of a WR but is so self-absorbed it's an embarrassment. I'm fine with trading him but since Ben is holding retirement over their heads I bet they overpay for them both...again...with nothing to show for it

Such a horribly run organization since Rooney III took it over. Been proven in business that the 3rd generation will run the biz into the ground. 1st gen busts their ass to make something, 2nd gen refines the business and gets it humming, 3rd silver-spoon gen runs it like a hobby until it's garbage. Steelers are in that 3rd gen state...

other than the players and owner I love the steelers :)

- just read "His Life's Work" about Chuck Noll, one of my childhood heroes. What a great read

Well,
after watching the AFC Championship game, how could anyone say that AB is the best receiver in the NFL? He got out muscled and out hustled. He was whining on the sidelines like a little baby because they didn't throw him the ball on the Steelers early TD (when they rushed it in). Who does that?

Added to the constant fines and the whole Face Book thing, he's a really hard guy to root for.

I'm not as down on Ben as RT is, I was a pretty big asshole when I was 27 too despite not being a famous millionaire, and I believe he's really changed. I also think Ben's talk of possibly not coming back next year is because these idiots he is playing with can't stay on the field because of suspensions and the constant antics. He's in the final years of a HOF career and he's got idiots smoking pot and being on Face Book Live in the locker room. And Tomlin, who was appropriately described as merely a cheerleader (he sits in press conferences and repeats cliches), does nothing about it.

To the extent Ben is unpopular, AB and Tomlin are about 10 times as unpopular.
