Does anyone still want Shannahan as their head coach? He is the Steve Bartman of the NFL

but then who's decision was it to pass? dan quinn couldnt speak into the mic and tell them to run? why am i not surprised as he's from the school of pete carroll who's team decided to throw instead of run it in with lynch to get a td. either shady coaches and just plain stupid when the moment counted.

not to mention Ryan taking the sack and then getting the holding penalty when a FG probably ends it.

thats what i'm saying..the whole sequence there was just asinine coaching whether from offensive coordinator or head coach. you run the ball and worse case scenerio you get a holding call. best case is you still running out clock while at least getting a fg and going up 2 scores. got super cute throwing

They lost to the best QB & coach of all-time.

No choke.....60 minute game.

Anything goes until that final score is posted.

You can't possibly say it was not a choke job. They did something that has never been done in NFL post season history. To blow a 4 score lead in under 20 minutes of game time is a flat out choke job.

First and ten at New England 22 up 8 late. You can take three knees there and secure a win a very high percentage of the time with an NFL kicker. They choked. The third and 1 pass was a bigger choke than you think because not only did they pass on that play, they did so with Coleman getting hurt the play before. That means two things ... they had plenty of time to think about what they were going to do and it also means that they had their lesser pass blocking back in the game on a play where the defensive alignment was going to be near the line of scrimmage, expecting the run they should have called. And he was protecting the blind side.

It's just beyond awful.

What makes the series of downs at the New England 22 so bad, is that it happened after the blunder they made on the third and 1 call. He still didn't learn from his mistake. The game was won when Julio Jones made that amazing catch and the coaches stole it from their team.

Grats to Pats though. They are true champions. Brady is the greatest of all time. They are not retards, so they deserved the win.

Did you see the post game interview with Pete Carroll ... he said "I couldn't figure out why the Falcons didn't run".

Shocking that the Falcons should have won the game despite being crushed stats wise. Freeman had a total of 11 carries in the game, and only 5 in the 2nd half. That is one of the ways the Falcons lost this game. As has been pointed out, they should have run the ball 3 times when they were in easy fg range. Game would have been over. No complaints here though as I took the Pats ML to win the game at the half. Atlanta has to be one miserable city this morning.

lots of things have to happen to enable a comeback, that's always the case in all sports whenever there's a great comeback

lots of things happened to give Atlanta a 28-3 lead too

I don't blame Falcon's fans and backers for being upset, but nobody gave the Patriots anything

It certainly is the biggest choke job I can remember.

You can tell that the lore of Belichick and Brady loom so large from the sidelines that these coaches and players just go into a panic (Seattle got too cute 2 years ago). For some reason Atlanta was looking for another play after Jones had already made the play they needed. You can't be dropping back and passing from the 22 yard line when all you need is a field goal. That was just crazy. It is on the head coach to tell the OC to run the ball.

Once the Pats got the ball back down 8 I don't know anyone who didn't think they were going to win. That's how mentally imposing B&B are.

I can't even imagine how sick Falcons fans feel today.

Great comeback no doubt. Only thing given to patriots was a chance by the atl coaching staff. If they run 3 times at ne 22 kick fg game over (if he makes) very stupid play calling.

Atlanta had a chance to pick Brady off twice on that last drive. I knew he was taking them down to score....was just hoping the 2 point conversation would somehow fail. It's a shame it wasn't a 7 pt game....better chance Gostkowski misses the PAT.

One of my couisins is a diehard falcons fan. I think he wandered the streets for some time after the game.
