these are the guys we are using to rate the top books? adn there are no reviews of the books? and there is noone to contact? and there are only 6 books listed?

please change title if thats too strong? I dont understand how betonline cant have a rating reduction? after what looks to be pretty damming evidence of some sort of collusion?

I am looking all over the RX for its ratings of books? and this is all i oculd find? and its pretty pathetic?

im not trying to start problems here, just trying to ascertain were the RX stands on the issue, and are we not a site that Rates books anymore and settles disagreements??

or is that just sbr?

Any rating of anything in the gambling world should have a huge buyer beware because in this industry telling the truth is not the norm. Someone is making money with any rating service.

This was about 30 years ago there was a publication that rated the top sports handicapping services. The top rated football service cost $2,000 for the season, the second best in the rating was $1,500 the third best was $1,000. Then there were other services in the top 10 that I knew about and had some history with like Doc's Enterprise was a big 10 specialist and his big 10 game of the year was like money.

A friend wanted to sign up for the top service out of Portland. I had never heard of them. I told him to wait. I called them and the were crabby just like the publication said. I called the second one and they sounded professional like the publication said. Finally I called the third one which was based in Minneapolis. I knew allot of gamblers in town and never heard of this guy before. I said I was very interested and said I wanted to overnight the funds so I could get started for the football season. I asked for the address to overnight the funds to. He gave me the Minneapolis address to send the money too. I said I wanted to think about it for a minute and asked how long he was going to be in for. He said for another couple hours. I hung up and waited a few minutes. I called back and said I decided I wanted to get started and verified the address........then I told him I wasnt going to overnight the money I was going to drive it over and pay cash so there would be no issue.

There was a long pause and then he told me I couldnt do that. Why I asked. He wasn't in Minneapolis....he was in San Diego. The guy who wrote the ratings ran the top 3 services and it was just a huge scam.

I love the fact that I out smarted the lying bastards.....I let people know about the scam when ever possible.

Buyer beware.....especially when it comes to gambling

Dont know anything about the rating site because I dont look at that. If I was posting up offshore my single biggest concern is are they going to pay me. After that nothing is really all that important.

If I wanted to become a multi millionaire with no morals I would start an offshore sportsbook. Get 1,000 guys to post up $1,000 and then take the money and run.

I have stories about that too.

I have done business with Bookmaker back in the days when they were CRIS. I am fairly confident I am going to get paid.

Back in the days when I bet way more than I do now I had credit accounts with many of the sportsbooks. I dont bet enough anymore to spend the time and effort to shop 5 to 10 lines to make my plays. I pretty much stick to Bookmaker for ease and know I would get paid.

I use to love the days of Pinnacle when you could sell points on NBA totals. Play over 200 at minus -105 or play over 202 at plus 115 the choice was super simple.

Thanks betall. So my question is, do we NOT negotiate or rate books anymore? I do see the RX preferred 5 books.. but no ratings on anything else.. I guess my expectation was the RX would have ratings on the top 10 or 15 books... and current disagreement, resolutions??
You know???
And that's what suprised me.
So is SBR the main resolution place?

The RX has never really been a "Ratings" Forum, but has backed many Books in the past and currently.. Mostly Good, but like anywhere, some Bad.
When Wil was here, he handled All of the disputes. I started to handle a couple while Wil was still here because I knew some of the "principals" at
some shops.
After Wil left it was just Myself and hache man ...
We have both been able to help multiple posters with disputes. It's much harder with Non-Sponsored Books though.
and some of the crew at these books have changed, so that's a little bump as well. But we do try our best to continue to help with disputes.

We have in the past year or so get guys that First tried over at SBR, then came here because they either lost their case or sbr couldn't help.
sometimes we get the job done, but you never know when we run into a problem.

I believe the More the merrier .. I don't think we would turn anyone away, but if a book is a "Sponsor" at another site, it's always good to start at that site first.
