If you are looking for cheap cell service, Walmart's Straight Talk is the way to go. They use the big boys networks.

I have an iPhone 7 and was with Verizon on a girls account. We broke up so I went to wal mart and bought a $25 SIM card from t-mobile. My family mobile..com. It's unlimited talk and text for $40/mo. It works great. No dropped calls and unlimited everything. Can't beat it imo. Basically got the phone working for $25 and they didn't bill for the month until after 30 days.

ST is the worst company ever. Activated a phone and they assigned a number that is several states away. When I called to rectify it they became rude and combative. One claimed area code doesn't matter cause everyone has unlimited long distance. No they don't, bitch. Another started lecturing me about US geography. The bitch who's probably in India claimed that the states were practically next to each other. No bitch, 2000 miles isn't practically next to each other. Took 5 calls and 5 hours before finally getting a dude who knew what the hell he was doing.

If that weren't bad enough they began throttling my speed at 1GB and ultimately shut it off even tho they were advertising unlimited data. Worst company ever.

If I were shopping I'd go with Cricket. Plans start at $30 for 1GB or $35 for 3GB. Uses AT&T network since they own it.

Cricket is garbage. There coverage area is minimal at best. If you live in a major city and never leave it, then cricket should be fine.

The customer service issue you had is the same with ALL communications companies. VZW, ATT, Comcast, Cxx, TW... all of them suck that way.

And like anything else on this planet, you get what you pay for.

If you want a cheap reliable talk and text plan (most of your data is Wifi) , ST is the way to go. If you want good data service you have to use one of the overpriced wireless giants.

What the hell are you talking about? You think AT&T has "minimal coverage"? Cause that's the network Cricket runs on. Where I am, only 2 networks are reliable: AT&T and Verizon. Sprint & T-Mobile are garbage and don't work in over 90% of the areas. I've had ALL of them so I know what I'm talking about.

Bad CS is one thing but incompetence and outright FRAUD are a whole different matter. Having tried every pre-paid outfit, the only one who committed said fraud was ST. And the only one to give a "local number" that was 2,000 miles away then yelled at me that I didn't know the map of my own country. :ohno:

Not everyone owns a cellphone and not everyone pays extra for a long distance plan.

I didnt say ATT has minimal coverage. Cricket piggy backs their network yes BUT A: its not on the entire network (nationally) B: Cricket users are a lower priority on the ATT network hierarchy, so you get bumped for an ATT paying customer (to over simplify things), Their CS sucks just like all the rest. And they ALL commit some form of fraud regularly. Its amazing how accepted it is now in the communications world.

True but most do. And anyone that pays for long distance calling with all of the available technology out there, are either too lazy to look into it or unaware they are being ripped off.

A relative switched over to Cricket several years ago from AT&T and never experienced anything you're insinuating. And believe me I woulda heard about it since he loves to complain about everything especially since I recommended Cricket to him. He has not had any issues with "minimal coverage" or being "bumped for an ATT paying customer." Otherwise he woulda dumped it in a heartbeat.

Plus if what you were saying were true, how could you recommend ST since AT&T is one of the networks they use????? They normally don't tell you which network you'll be on either. If you are tech savvy you can find out but most aren't.

Or they're poor and living on minimum income.....

Then they are MORE likely to look into alternative long distance. You think all these people working at gas stations and convince stores are paying for international calls. Hells no.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you do.
