I know he wasn't in this game, but the fact that Ted Valentine still gets games in the tournament tells you all you need to know about the ref selection process and how we get this type of pathetic display.

Thank you.

The refs helped North Carolina against Arkansas and Oregon as well.

I had NC tonight but I agree the refs were terrible, calling all the no harm fouls and stopping the flow of the goddam National Championship Game.
It was ugly because of them.
IMO the tournament was much, much worse officiated than regular season.
So many games, key players had 2 ticky tack fouls in the first 5 minutes.

I cant stand the way these tourney games were refereed. Way too many ticky tack fouls and free throws. I also had NC but the entire tournament seemed like it was officated differently from the regular season.

It isn't that they were bad both ways.

Look at the players in foul trouble. I told my buddy the only way Zags lose is foul trouble. Then we get the mother of all whistle games.

3 of the best players for Gonzaga were saddled all night. Collins 14 minutes. That guy is a game changer, you can not overstate his importance. Karnowski sucked last night but him too, and I believe Matthews had foul trouble?? He was tremendous from outside Saturday, a nice perimeter threat.

Collins was by far the biggest victim of the awful officiating. If he stays on the floor, they don't lose that game........and the officials knew it. No replay on foul #5? Gimme a freaking break. They didn't want to show you how fucked it was. You don't call #5 on some bullshit marginal call, competent refs know who is in foul trouble, know who is on their last foul. Especially star players.

What a travesty.

Money talks. Period.

I feel this is more on the NCAA then on the officials. Basketball MUST change the rules so everything isn't a foul. I have taken school/work off every year for this tournament because its so great. Honestly considering being down with it because officiating is getting in the way of every game. Complete BS, makes me furious. And the sad thing is all of our b*tch*** will do nothing. It's all about the NCAA and what they want to do. It is ruining the game of basketball. The NBA is almost just as bad w/ superstar bias and the ability of stars to get a whistle whoever they want (Harden/Westbrook). Now you can run full speed into a defender and as long as he's moving you/re shooting foul shots. Needs to change

They didn't screw anybody. Both teams suffered from awful reffing.

You completely miss the point.

When your best player is taken out of virtually the entire game, because of bullshit foul calls, then yes a team got screwed.

Collins had no business fouling out. They were one possession away from winning, if the ref calls the Meeks OB play properly.

They did thst with Collins playing 14 minutes. If he plays 30 they win.

I remember when nc beat Il in finals. Refs sent Il Augustine to bench first 3 min of game with 2 very questionable calls

and they never showed the replay of that foul during the game

I sometimes wonder why, I think it's probably because they don't want to embarrass the ref and have it distract from the game even more so than what's already happening

I would think Grant Hill, being a former player would call that shit out. It was just so clear in the So Carolina game and of course in the title game, that for whatever reason, Collins was a marked man. He was the only Zag that had a plus rating in the game. 14 minutes, what a fing joke.
