To me, she was no better or worse than whatever token woman they put in that spot.

Her big crime was commenting on some protest out in Cali.

With ESPN ratings sinking, Steele had to go.. Just a bad look for them to have a black woman with black men discussing the NBA..I'm sure they will get another white woman to fill that role.. Not that i would ever watch that sick product , but it will get white female back watching..

Black Twitter is similar to Gambling Twitter. There is no actual "black twitter" or "gambling twitter", just the same circle of people who comment on topics/controversies that are of in that circle of people.

And I don't really see where it's a demotion, maybe just a line being drawn by the Times. It seems everytime I watch the ESPN pre-NBA show it's always Beadle/Jalen/Chauncey anyways.

I'm don't recall hearing any of her comments previously, which don't seem over the top at all, but it's a simple marketing decision. NBA viewing demographics, I think it's safe to say, is liberal leaning. So remove the "public conservative" from the eye of the "liberal viewers" and put her on the Masters, College Football Championship and World Series coverage. Doesn't seem like a demotion, just a change, and a solid business/marketing decision.

First off, white females are not watching NBA Countdown.

Secondly, why it is it a bad look to have a black woman discussing the NBA with black men?

If we follow your logic, replacing her with a white woman should hurt their numbers in the black female demo, which I would think is far more important to them for this particular broadcast.

I don't know who is or isn't watching ... but if you see the extras in tv shows , tv shows , comericials , tv anchors , news anchors ,movies , you're seeing black men paired up with white women. Ramming it down our throats...if you're not seeing this , then you're not paying attention.. Same as real life , you see black men alot more with white women then black women... Street cred ? Yes .. a bad look for a black man with a black woman... pay attention Harry ...

It's ironic in this thread you posted this as Steele's husband is white.

So if this is truly ESPN's agenda, how do you explain the Jamele Hill/Michael Smith tandem they've been pushing so hard?
