Congrats on 300 saved [sat night]

Kimbrel made big-league history in the 6-5 victory over the Rangers, setting a handful of records while becoming the fastest to reach 300 saves. The right-hander reached the milestone eight years to the day he received his first call to the majors while a member of the Braves.

“It was nice to have these guys behind me and show their appreciation for me,” Kimbrel said. “It’s really neat. Everything I do every night is to go out there and make sure what they do counts.”

At 30, Kimbrel is a year younger than Francisco Rodriguez was when he reached the 300 mark in 2013. It took Kimbrel 43 fewer games than Yankees great Mariano Rivera and five fewer saves opportunities than longtime Twins closer Joe Nathan. He’s been nothing short of dominant along the way, averaging 14.72 strikeouts per nine innings.
