The fast food business is no longer dominated by burgers-and-fries or fried chicken.

According to a poll from our partner, MSN, Americans are more interested in pizza and Mexican food than traditional burger and chicken joints: 37% to 32% respectively.
MSN polls its readers, and then uses machine learning to model how a representative sample of the U.S. would have responded, using big data, such as the Census. It's nearly as accurate as a traditional, scientific survey.
The poll also found roughly twice as many people say their favorite burger place is Wendy's vs. Burger King or McDonald's, and it's even more pronounced among younger Americans. Roughly half the country admits to eating fast food at least once a week.
While McDonald's and other burger chains are synonymous with fast-food for many customers, the rise of pizza and Mexican chains shouldn't come as a shock.
Pizza chains have been on the rise in recent years. Smaller fast-casual chains such as Blaze Pizza and PizzaRev have had explosive growth, establishing a new kind of pizza chain.
However, perhaps the biggest winner in the pizza industry in 2017 is Domino's. In the last nine years, the chain has nearly doubled its sales, reaching $10.9 billion in 2016, compared with $5.5 billion in 2008.

Opposite for me. Hardly ever went to McD's the past 20 years but been going there almost daily now. They're currently running promotions where they give away Signature sandwiches and McNuggets tied to local teams. I still don't like majority of their food but my dogs sure do so I go for them.

McDonalds revenue is still more than their next four biggest competitors, Subway, Taco Bell, Wendy's and Dominos, combined.

dont know. I dont blame McDonalds. They r in the business of making money and are accountable to shareholders. Actually, kudos to them. They adapt and play the field brilliantly

MCD is the best performer in my portfolio right now. Bought in 5/14 at 101, currently at 152. Up 51% in 3 years.

A twist to the above is that McD food business is secondary to their real estate business. They own all the land for free-standing sites and rake a monthly lease payment from franchise owners in addition to monthly royalties

no idea as to the accuracy of this. Not enough hours in the day brother. But given the debacle of 2008? did they jump in as 'capitalist savages'?

Do you guys consider Chipotle "fast-food"?

The only fast food joint I eat at more than once a month is Chick-fil-a. I have to guilt eating that!! I'll eat Subway or Firehouse Subs once in a while.
