T.A. is a very valuable tool for entering and exits points even without the historical data that crypto market lacks

Report: 1,000 People Own 40 Percent of the Bitcoin Market

A mere 1,000 people own 40 percent of the bitcoin market, according to a report from Bloomberg. As the cryptocurrency’s value climbs to new heights, these “bitcoin whales” have even more power to sink or float the market, potentially in coordinated schemes.

Experts estimate that bitcoin whales, many of whom bought sizable quantities of the cryptocurrency in its infancy, may now want to sell as much as half of their chests given the current upswing, which would result in dramatic dips in value. Though frowned upon, and sometimes forbidden by digital currency exchanges, it is also not technically illegal for these big investors to band together into “pump groups” to manipulate prices. For example, a group may agree to collectively raise the price of bitcoin, and then cash out en masse. Bloomberg also quotes a hedge fund manager who often calls big bitcoin players to get tips on their coming trading strategies, intel that most ordinary investors wouldn’t have access to.

Whale watching has now become more than a pastime—smaller investors track the addresses of these power players and debate furiously on Reddit over whether certain moves, such as a whale transferring thousands of coins to an online exchange, might forecast coming storms in the market.

But disciples of the cryptocurrency told Bloomberg they faith in its ability to eventually become a legitimate alternative to banks and fiat currency, and so are motivated to keep its price high. The few power players also have an incentive to keep the prices climbing, and to not destroy each other, given the possibility that bitcoin could pay out even greater benefits in the future.

However, these whales will have to adapt quickly now that the Chicago Board Options Exchange will become the first traditional exchange to offer bitcoin futures later today, which introduces a host of new variables into the picture. While most whales are incentivized to see values continue on an upward trajectory, the futures market opens up more possibilities to make a profit on a downturn. As Lanre Sarumi writes in CoinDesk, “Marine life in the futures market is not as friendly. The waters are infested with killer whales.”

Blockchain technology is not going away anytime soon .. smart contracts are not going anywhere.

Smart contracts enabled all those erc20 tokens to created and rolled out nearly overnight.. THAT technology is not going anywhere and there is an of value ... so as long as Blockchain are here there will be a need for crypto currency .. I am looking forward to commoditi s trading using a token representing metals etc

    @JohnLilic

Tech venture capital is ugly, messy and 99% of the time investors get it wrong and lose money. The difference with #Ethereum #ICO is transparency & retail investors have early access to deal flow rather than only well connected VCs. ICO’s aren’t worse, they’re just transparent.

i am certainly no expert in this field, actually, not read up on the topic and have no clue as to speed of its societal applications. With that said , agree with the bold bigtime. Its a major scientific advancement (blockchain )

metro, i'll play devil's advocate -- what if govts across the world digitalize their own currencies. Would there be any use for cryptos?

Yes because "utility tokens" and " tokens " are gonna be this next wave of crypto... for example commodities that are backed by token .. ethereum is a token when used to pay for ethereum tokens... when govs create their own ctypto you will recieve your paycheck for example as a crypto and convert into tkens for services needed to be paid for in that businesses tokens... but thats long range , we arnt even anywhere close to people using crypto instead of money , at least in theusa, the token economy is here or right around the corner.. commodities backed by a tken directly tethered to yhe comodity is around the corner... smaert contracts and erc20 tokens ( both ethereum) needed in this ecosystem , so yes crypto will still have a role

Or service or utility in addition to commodity .. if a foreign country goes 100 pct crypto currency they will require you use affiliated exchanges to pay for tokens crypto etc in their crypto

Even Publicly traded companies on us stock exchange can make a token that serves a segment of its business , so ths token econmy wont be limited to companies that are a crypto currency / had an ico etc .

Ok fellas , I hope youíve been accumulating more ChainLink during the bear season.
ChainLink went to ropsten today. Ropsten is the testing phase for the ethereum network prior to main network release on the ethereum platform.
All along the expectations was 2018 2nd QTR/ 3rd QTR.

Iíve recommended LINK to you last November, I learned a few more things about Link that has me even more bullish.

Very long thread but a lot of wicked awesome copy paste material.
The link is 4chan, a anonymous image posting site and is full of bad language and taste....youíve been warned. Itís not that bad but some may get offended by the conversations

Watch around the 5 minute mark for LINK confirmation(speculative investigation)
And watch the end as he slips the tongue and CHAIN comes from his lips and he realizes heís said too much , looks down and reverts to Blockchain.

I also wanted to tell about a project called Matrix AI.
do you know of the One Belt One Road (OBOR)
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_...oad_Initiative

    https://medium.com/@keithtuskey/the-...e-2903f65ab107

Iíve been meaning to share this with you guys. Matrix AI
Absolute gem long hold. Trading at 9500 sats.
Circulation supply 250 million. 1 billion total supply (40 % locked away for mining rewards)
Total supply to be disbursed over a long term period. According to the FAQ ďit will take decades for the total supply to be reached ď.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/MatrixAINet...ad_this_first/

The Exclusive Blockchain and AI for the OBOR project.
    That means government endorsed.
I honestly think this has so much potential itís almost ridiculous. Like ETH possibilities to grow over the next 2-3 years.

    Available on IDEX and GATE.
Once this gets on a big exchange listing this will run hard.
