MJ - 15 seasons
Bron - 14

Michael Jordan has:
3 more rings
3 more final mvps
1 more DPOY
1 more season MVP
9 more scoring titles
3 more steals leader
3 more all defensive team selections
4000 more points
800 more steals
Beat 20 50+ win teams (Lebron only defeated 10)

Jordan NEVER averaged less than 40% Field Goal in the finals
Lebron did it twice lol.
Had the biggest margin of defeat in NBA finals history.
Oh and i forgot.
6/6.
AND never allowed a game 7
Lebron had much more help
Jordan never had a teammate averaged more than 22 points in the finals...

Kyrie averaged over 28 and DWade averaged more than 26
MJ never ever had a finals meltdown like Lebron in 2011 against the Mavs
MJ has more points in the playoffs in less games...
Played in college while LeBron did not. So take away 2 years from lebron.

All of this accomplished in 13 years. AND took a year off.
Lebron is in his 14 still chasing the ghost that played in Chicago
So how is the even close?

Consider the changes that have taken place within NBA since MJ's time to now.

Is not the overall talent-level higher, like Bron having to navigate a much more treacherous road? Than MJ?

Bron is up against (and has been versus) significantly HIGHER level of competition, than MJ?

What Teams were able to throw the level of competition vs. MJ that we see Bron having faced?

Pistons? For a few years? Lakers? Celtics? Suns lmfao for that brief shining moment, 'til Charles Barkley said: "We're a Team of Destiny."

Is it possible to base a comparison between MJ & Bron on just "numbers", really? Sorta feels like maybe not: PURELY, like....feels like Comparative Talent Levels of Competition has to be YUGELY factored in. Just sayin.

I'll likely always believe MJ was better but me I don't know, way far from a knowledgeable opinion on this.....as other guys are.

Well put Dog! We tend to be nostalgic as well. Loved the 90s and all that came in them. MJ will always have a special place in my heart cause I was a kid and what he did seemed magical to me. Not feeling the same with Bron, not necessarily because he doesnt do it but because maybe I am not able to appreciate it in the same manner.

doesn't make much sense. when MJ played there were 5-7 less teams in the nba so lebron gets to play against 60-90 players that wouldn't have even made the league back in the 80's

he's also played in the one-n-done + high-school draft era where 7-10 freshman (and, previously, high schoolers) enter the league that are nowhere near ready to play, further diluting the talent pool. jordan never got to play against the garbage the nba puts out as first round picks these days.

and while you casually toss around pistons, lakers, celtics those happened to be teams stocked with all-stars and HOFers. cavs just made it to nba finals beating indy (i can name 1 player and he wont be a hofer), toronto (garbage), and boston (worst 1 seed since avery's dallas team)...this is great competition? :)

"Nostalgia", Yeah. Well Put: on your part. I was thinking that very thing, like: "Am I Hopelessly Biased?" cuz Me & MJ real similar to what you described. I saw him play baseball with The Barons, sat next to 3 of Nomar Garciaparra's relatives without knowing that til after I commented to loudly to my buddy about how enormous Nomar's Nose was, "Really Really big, obscenely big, YUGE, comes to mind it'd be hazardous to be playing baseball with a honker that enormous" only to then focus PAST that buddy I was saying all that too (like, every bit a "Mini-Rant" about Nomar Garciaparras yuge fuggin nose) to see that there was a Man, a Grandma and a wide eyed little girl all 3 of whom were sporting in the middle of their faces the exact same enormous noses. :(

Nomar's Grandmother, maybe his brother and Nomar's little niece.

I will never forget the sadness in her eyes. :( Just beyond her yuge ski-slope-like nose. :(

My words had injured her terribly. Grandma looked at me with also deep sadness. :( The Male Garciaparra there....the look in his eyes different:

One of Rage.

You talk about "Awkward." :( I spent the next 3 innings apologizing. I bought the little girl a pretzel. Biggest one they had.

In my heart though I knew it wasn't enough, that nothing would ever be. And i still know that to this day.

Thier noses were Unusually large though. It was like they'd not been made aware of that fact though, until that moment.

I wasn't a kid during MJ's reign but was during Magic Johnson's funny though that I knew (and felt) completely ZERO for THAT "MJ" despite being in L.A. during Magic's Time but my sole and entire interests were: Alcohol, Drugs, Music and Girls.

Literally nothing past that.

You make a deeply solid point though with "The ERA" we were in, in OUR LIVES as that relates to Michael Jordan.

Largely why I said I think to me that Michael will always be the best ever.

Magnificently Stated. Thats why I put it out there, like that, so that I could get some Clarity on How & IF "Comparative Level of Competition" (including Rules Changes/Fouling etc.) factored INTO such a discussion. Very very well done. :toast:

Find a bar in your area where I can Paypla them $$$ for a drink for you or just call 'em on the phone with my card number....has to be a Hurricane: That Drink (its a N'awlinz Drink, 5 Liquors in it) and I'll spring for a drink for ya :toast: for clearing that up.

Now someone's gonna PM me a phone number pretending to be a bar soze they can steal my cc #

Keyser Sozay Shit.

Damn my life is hard :(

You're Sharp as heck though my man. :toast:

rolltide throwing haymakers!!!!

even bron bron has a headache lol

NBA quality 10x better in 80s and 90s, undisputed!

Back then you could actually play hard defense, flops were frowned upon

Who was better, Shaq or Larry Bird?

It is hard to compare different styles on "whose better" let alone different eras. Lebron has always played a much similar style to Magic and Bird. I do not know why he receives MJ comparisons when they play completely different. And trying to say who is better, is just the media trying to stir up ratings when they sit there are argue with each other over it. Lebron could win the finals the next 10 years in a row but it still an apples oranges comparison imo.

Lebron has faced the big 3 Celtics in the playoffs multiple times. The best team of the past decade (or maybe 15 years) in the Spurs for the finals 3x. A loss to the Mavs, which they probably should have won. And GSW 3x (who many will argue the best team of all time). And beat a Harden/Westbrook/Durant Thunder team. That's not easy competition. But it is a team sport. You win and lose as a team. He also had Wade/Bosh for half of those finals.

The 80's-90's era of basketball was great. I am not a big fan of the new era and how the rules/style is but it is what it is. I personally think MJ is the best of all time but Lebron is definitely the best of his era. Trying to compare QBs in different football eras is the same way. Different rules, different game.

There is a reason why Stockton, Malone, Barkley, Ewing, Reggie, Gary Payton, Hardaway, Mutombo have no rings.... it's MJ.

If someone wants to think Kobe or Lebron is better than MJ then let them think it. No skin off your ass, right.
Each player has their benefits but who else is on the team is going to determine the success. After MJ, Bulls were still 55 wins. ECF appearance.

Thats my rant ^<<^

Good I'm glad Bronny has a headache he deserves a headache cuz he gave me one last night from my Him Over 34 Points play. I did manage to cash CLE 3's OV 11.5 though and CLE OV 111 though and of course 1st Quarter OV 59.5 (or whatever number the Linesmaker felt like posting LMFAO)

Too bad this series can't be extended to Best of 77 Games cuz there has never ever BEEN a more robust pasture for PROPS than this. Its literally Ridiculous.

That CLE 3's OV 11.5 damn near cashed in the 1st Quarter alone. Kevin Love? raining 3's like Kanye + Monopoly Money.

Speaking of which: Where can I find that Sharp Prop Guy's thread? On Here I mean, RX of course....did he ever show up?

Yeah, I'd like to get that going if possible: a posting up of his Prop Thoughts here cuz I've taken Props much more seriously of late and I've had enough success to see clearly that certain Props can be an exceptionally Sharp Lane to consider getting in.

Mostly I've lucked out. Bron contributed 31 points last night, I knew it was a reckless play, made it for "Action" on that cuz I wanted an investment in how much he'd step up....completely stupid bet with 1Q OVers being Free Money in this series. Plus That OV 111 for Cleveland figuring to be a decent consideration cuz if they don't exceed 110 they have Zero Chance of winning plus they made 112 or 113 in Game 3 and that was without scoring for the last 3 minutes + in that game (humiliating themselves, GSW closing out with 11-0 run, reasonable to consider CLE would wanna Avenge That + 112/113 in 45 Minutes = 112 in 48 Minutes not unreasonable to expect after that embarrassing end to Game 3)

(Though there was the concern of course that they'd just wanna end it and get to their Offseason, Lifestyles of The Rich & Famous)

The CLE 3's OV 11.5 line of thot was similar to all that + you know they are "capable."......of it.

Will they want it? Always the question with NBA Millionaires.

Line on TOTAL 3's WAS, within this series around 24, 25, up to 25.5/26 I think....another Prop to consider for what hopefully will be 3 more games.

Right Now as far as I am concerned these 2 teams should play each other every other day until football starts. This series on OV Props has been quite +EV.

NBA was ruled by the bigs during his days. If your name wasn't Jordan and you didn't have a solid big man. Your team wasn't a threat to win the title.
You may be too young to remember but Mutumbo was one of the best rim defenders. And 20+ years ago, no team was winning anything without defense.

I suppose that it isn't Lebron's fault that people make the comparison. He falls miserably short in that comparison, obviously. Miserably short. But I think the comparison is unfair not because they played in different eras, with different rules, one against rim defenders one not, or that they play different styles. I think the comparison is unfair because it isn't close and it diminishes how great a player Lebron is when we make his career about whether he is the best of all time or not. the guy is very likely one of the ten best basketball players to ever grace planet Earth and yet people (not necessarily those in this thread) want to consider him a failure because he isn't the best there ever was. I just don't think that is particularly fair to him.

I think the NBA talent is better now than ten years ago but not nearly as good as 10 or 20 years ago (with a decent margin). The 2000's were probably the weakest the league was in my lifetime.

Anyway, Lebron is a great player and we should just enjoy what he does on the court without holding him to a standard of the best ever because there can only be one of those and it isn't him. When you are one of the ten best in the history of planet Earth at what you do for a living, then maybe cast a stone at the guy. With that said, I have bashed him plenty myself, which makes me a hypocrite... but I think big picture we should just appreciate him.

One other stat that is interesting besides their records in finals series is there actual win percentages in finals games. lebron is 8 games UNDER .500 and an 8.5 pt underdog to make that 9 games UNDER .500.

The comparison is a joke. An unfair joke.
