On Thursday, June 15, "'Now on the tee, from Madison, Wisconsin, Steve Stricker.’” is gonna make the crowd in attendance at this year's US Open yell really realy loud.

Wisconsins are making noise right now about the BetDSI (Diamond Sports) prop: (Homestate Boy) Steve Stricker to Make Cut +200 (2/1) under "Golf Specials" and at this writing able to be Parlayed even, with other stuff. Baseball, NBA, World Cup Qualifier matches, other soccer and more stuff.

The US Open is in Wisconsin this year. Erin Hills.

A native of Edgerton, Wis., and resident of Madison, Stricker petitioned the USGA for a special exemption, figuring that it would be good for the event to have Wisconsin's first U.S.Open include the state's all-time winningest golfer. (Stricker has 12 PGA Tour titles; Andy North has three, but two were U.S.Opens.)

Turned out though that Steve didn't need any Mercy Free Pass from USGA as The University of Illinois alumnus earned a spot in The US Open by winning medalist honors in a 108-player sectional qualifier.

Had Stricker not qualified, the USGA would have gotten ripped for not doling out an exemption … in some circles. Fans and media are suckers for sentiment. Most players favor a meritocracy: If you can't earn your way in, you don't deserve to go.

Stricker has the slight advantage of having seen Erin Hills evolve. He played the course 10 days before its Aug. 1, 2006, opening at the invitation of then-owner Bob Lang. After the round he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: "Some holes just have that U.S. Open look. It's like nothing I've seen in our state."

This will be Stricker’s 20th career start at the U.S. Open and first since 2014. His two best results are a pair of fifth place finishes at Olympic Club in 1998 and at Pinehurst in 1999, what some refer to as The Greatest US Open ever where Payne Stewart won his third and final major by making an 18-foot putt on the 18th green to edge Phil Mickelson by one stroke.

Four months later on Oct. 25, 1999, Stewart died in a plane crash.

Voted at one point as "Most Nice & Friendly Golfer" in a Golf Digest Poll Steve Stricker only drives the golf ball 280 and thats if the wind is at his back and that back ain't sore from being 50 years old so he ain't gonna wow anyone with his driving prowess and the thought of him entering a Long Drive contest is hilarious, like: "What are you doing here?" from DJ or JDay or Long JB Holmes fearing that the format had been changed to a "Shortest Drive" contest.

....and valid question exists as to if the 50 year old Stricker has a chance to compete in a U.S. Open with all of these freaky-long hitters.

But can he at least Make The Cut?

Based on the fact that no man has ever wanted MORE to not fail in a spot than the very nice Steve Stricker who is a native of Wisconsin...maybe he makes the cut.

What do you think? Is it worth a shot at a Double Up here? 2 to 1 Odds on Stevie?

In other related news: Dustin Johnson hasn't slipped on any stairs. (Yet.) and RedEye needs to retrieve his Phil Mickelson To Win +4000 Futures Bet Ticket from the trash can he tossed that in and tape it back together cuz Lefty says: "I need a minimum four-hour delay.....most likely, before I have to Tee Off", Mickelson told CBS Sports, after his ninth-place finish at the FedEx St. Jude Classic on Sunday. "That's the way I've mapped it out. I can get in the air right around my tee-time, or just prior."

US Open officials have helped the 46-year-old, by giving him a late tee-time on Thursday afternoon. He is in the third-last group of the day, alongside Steve Stricker and Stewart Cink.

"It's a three hour and twenty flight. By the time I get to the course I need a four-hour delay. At Least.", Mickelson said.

"[Saturday] night, there was a 60% chance of thunderstorms on Thursday. Right now there is 20% so who knows?"

Same question I have. "Who Knows?"

The U.S. Open begins Thursday June 15 super early in the morning at Wisconsin’s Erin Hills, about 35 miles from Milwaukee.

On the matter of Phil, for those who did not hear: He announced he would not play bcuz his daughter Amanda’s graduation from Pacific Ridge (High) School in Carlsbad is happening on June 15th. The School has said that they will not reschedule it.

Amanda Mickelson- Often called an “old soul” because she is just like that, has an Aura like that...you've met people like that plus because she gives advice so good to her friends and others that it seems like its something you'd more hear coming from a much older person

Mickelson has won five majors in his career,
but he has never won the U.S. Open,

the one tournament keeping him from the
Career Grand Slam.

The tournament has also been the site of some of his toughest heartbreaks as he has finished second a U.S. Open-record six times.

The very next day after that 1999 US Open, when Mickelson finished second to Payne Stewart, Amanda was born.

The day after that tournament.

Phil was prepared to leave the tournament if his wife Amy had gone into Labor during that Final Round.

Amanda's Graduation ceremony is happening on Mickelson's 47th birthday.

Back to Stricker and the point of this thread:

What do you think? Is it worth a shot at a Double Up here? 2 to 1 Odds on Stevie Stricker? Again: he's 50 Years old, drives 280, will be under an enormous amount of pressure and it might be raining but....he's a genuinely nice guy. Do We believe in "Karma"? Do We?

Believe in that enuff that is to take a shot with this Double-Up?

Do We Believe?

Do we board here: The Cheesehead Bus? Action Play, at the least....+200 to just survive the damn CUT ya gotta admit, among the very last groups off the tee on Thursday that very late Group shared with a potentially harried Mickelson running up to the tee from a Distance out of breath dressed in shorts and a Holler House T-Shirt he had to borrow from a fan cuz he didn't have time to collect his luggage from the turnstyle and he didn't wanna wear what he wore to Amanda's Graduation.

Not surprised you've met him, being he went to school in Champaign. I guess. "U of ILL" Illini, he could have gone there or satellite campuses maybe even had classes in Chicago Area or at least College Tourneys or just golfed there otherwise.

I know u know Props so appreciate the input. What if Bad Weather that might temper scoring? Risk vs. Reward get any better in your opinion if Foul Weather? Being Local he'd be used to playing in that. I know its only +200 but the Action Play for 1st 2 Rds Thurs Fri is very tempting...too root this Local Boy in over that cut line.

Appreciate your input, as always. :toast:

long-ass thread discussion for a price that isn't valid ;)

5dimes opened -167 last night

btw accuracy should not be a huge factor this week as the average fairway on a par 4 or 5 is 100 feet which is 2x the normal width of a US Open course. of course if you don't hit the fairway you're in huge trouble but these are very wide fairways, no trees, no water...very deep rough

True, yes on the "Driving Accuracy", there are undulations and some have suggested that there are vastly less Favorable spots on some of the Fairways to wind up on...still value in the thread as maybe it can help you decide whether to take Steve Stricker at +105 vs. Louie Oosthuiezen.

IIRC Louie screwed some guys over in Harry Caray's previous contest: "The Masters Pool."

Maybe this thread made people investigate stricker for a chance to get revenge on Louie Louie. If so maybe they'll win a hunnerd and 5 dollars.

The Ultimate Fade Hatty told Matty(Matt), "Let's don't take no chance. Let's not be *L-seven*, come and learn to dance."
of something like that. I've been watching Golf Channel while practicing your idea to take a drink whenever saomeone says "fescue" so the whole room is spinniong and I cant feel my face

Rory McIlroy will debut a new putter at the US Open

Maybe he lost his putter somewhere over the course of his Month-long Vacation from Pro Golf lol...or more, I've lost track of time. :(

I never had that great of a handle on Time to begin with: Tenuous Grasp, at best. Maybe someone gave him this New Putter as a Wedding Gift

and he feels like it'd be Rude not to use it? Probably Not, in light of how totally he Burned Down Kevin Na (appropriately) cuz of Na crying about how high the fescue is

oh crap, gotta take another drink.

I'm gonna puke. Must've increased my water weight by 8 pounds. my BAC has got to be at least .374, ahm like John Daly on a shrimping boat in the middle of a haboob here :( for god's sake please no one say anything more about the Rough

Momma I'm seeing Spaceships :(

must be something on there that can get him DQ'd. Hopefully. Oh Wait: I ain't concerned wid 'em. As We Established: Good Round, Less Than Good Round then Good Round then less than good.

I ain't gonna Fade Him though, in matchups or to Miss Cut. I ain't got nowhere even close to balls that steely
