Right-hander Jake Faria will attempt to become the second pitcher in Tampa Bay Rays history to win his first three career starts on Sunday when the team vies for a split of its four-game series against the host Detroit Tigers.

Faria (2-0, 1.42 ERA) joined Jeremy Hellickson and Joe Kennedy as the lone Tampa Bay pitchers to win their first two career starts after limiting Toronto and the Chicago White Sox to one run Tuesday and June 7, respectively.

Hey EW.....your local rx chum Barman here to declare you and I should be making plans for TB Rays to win the AL East by a nose.....think 2008, brotha......the year following RedSox world championship in which Rays pitching and D stifled Beantown to a team BA of .215 and just barely three runs per game in final 16 head2head. And unlike 2008 the Rays have mighty power numbers.....Potential for four guys 30+ HRs and two (Morrison and Dickerson) to top 40.

Rays would then almost assuredly meet CLE in first round and if wild card Sox upset the Astros we could be looking at ALCS w home field edge.

I am loading my 5Dimes this afternoon so I can get $100 on AL Champs (+2950) and World Series (+6600).

Lots of hedge flex when the playoffs begin, especially if they do get the East flag

Kiermeier, Miller and Duffy should all be back in play by Aug 1 or sooner

On Faria: His 37 strikeouts are most in team history by a Ray over first nine starts. Is first MLB pitcher to begin career with six straight quality starts since Yankees' Masahiro Tanaka (16 straight) in 2014.
