Win or lose, just the process of being accused of something, or even just having your property seized while being charged with nothing. Anything that causes you to have to go through the court system causes enough angst to bring the rest of your life to a standstill. Even if nothing comes of it a person will suffer.
If I were the judge of this case, I'd do my best to make sure that after the lawyers take their cut, the rest of Bernie's wealth gets redistributed among the poor while he serves timeppp. It should make him feel much better to see his multiple vacation homes auctioned off to benefit the needy.
