Sorry to hear this. It's always tough like losing a child. I still think about my cat Misty who was put to sleep 12/23/2015 it ruined my Xmas. I just remember all the sweet times with my kitty. Very nice betall.

the hardest part of waiting is Not knowing how bad they really are.
They can't tell us that they are in Pain, or where they hurt.

I grew up with Dogs but have had Cats now for almost 20 years. You get attached like they are your kids
But a kid could tell you when somethings wrong. Pets can't.

My last cat to pass was a couple of months ago and I knew something was wrong because he didn't act the same.
Nothing to notice like hiding or crying, just didn't do his normal routine. By the time I took him to the Vet, it was too late.

We had to put our dog down a few years ago. At the time was very hard, now looking back on it was the best thing we could do for him. I know he appreciated it... Sorry to hear the bad news

Sorry for your loss. Like BAS said, most of the time they cannot tell you they are in pain till it's too late. Really sucks.

Honestly, best thing to do is to get another one asap imo. You still will cherish and remember the times you had with your last dog.

15 years is a long as hell dog life! Good for you....and for him.

We put down our 14 year old boy a year and a half ago, around Christmas. First time I cried in years....

I wish you inner peace w/ this, it's tough.

That is a hard call. My cat died years ago and swore I wasn't going to get another one. Then I found a half starved stray. Took him in and nursed him back to health. He's been a close companion ever since.

Both my dogs died a few years ago. Never wanted to get another dog anytime soon. I got the dog next door to get my dog fix for now. He is a cool beagle...

Sorry for your loss CK. I have 3 cats and a dog, and while I love the cats, there's just a special bond between me and my dog.

To me it is as sad a situation as when your closest sibling passes. 15 years of enjoyment
for us & him, it's hard to get over.

This is the only way I'll ever get a dog again.

CK, just overlook the ass*oles in your bereavement thread. They'd have a dick size contest at a funeral. No class whatsoever.

The old adage that a dog is a man's best friend is rooted in truth.

Sorry for your loss.
