There's the good ol' Service Plays section. Free, but sometimes lines have moved a lot by the time picks are posted.

I've never seen a sports betting computer program that's worth anything.

Databases like Sportsdatabase probably help, but only if you really know what you're doing. They tend to be better at NFL picks, they don't seem to offer deep data on CFB.

There's buying picks at various tout sites. Most sites seem to have a few decent cappers and a lot of dreck. Saw a guy list his $1400 of WagerBuxx for sale at only $300 a couple of days ago on eBay.

Probably the best way is to follow a few good savvy strategies, weed out low-morale teams completely, and make your own picks. But I don't expect anyone here to give such secrets away.

What do you think?

Ideally you would develop a spreadsheet or database of as many seasons and games as you can and look for data or factors that correlate with point spread success. I don't think there are any secrets or shortcuts for doing your homework and reading and studying as much as you can to be prepared for a season. There are great posters here and on other sites. You can tell who knows their stuff by how comprehensive or in-depth their analysis is. You may not agree with the conclusions but you can find great insights and angles to consider from other sources. Buy picks at your own risk - you can't trust the records they post. Find your own way that fits with your style and refine it over time. Let me know if you can figure out how to project turnovers - that would be gold! Good luck

Yes, I can see the logic of all that. There are just a few touts who are good at CFB. I like Sports Cheetah (Preston Johnson) at WagerTalk, he puts together their college football betting guide and is pretty smart. Makes his picks as soon as the lines come out, so tailers need to be on their toes.

My personal favorite betting ploy is to bet on a healthy well-led and motivated team that's playing a team that has shaky morale, e.g. they know their season isn't turning out how they hoped because of injuries or dissension.

BTW the guy on eBay who was selling WagerBuxx is still looking for a buyer, the price is all the way down to $99 for $1473 of WagerBuxx.

Billy Walters, one of the most famous gamblers ever, says he specialized in studying cappers and figuring out what they were good at. I'd say there are some cappers who are good in certain areas. At Pregame.com, Steve Nover is good at NBA, Steve Fezzik is good at over/unders especially when the weather starts to be more of a factor, Goodfella is good at Pac-10 and especially the northwest teams whether they be pro or college.

Wagertalk I'm not so familiar with how to get the most out of it, but they do guarantee their top 5-star picks or you get your money back. Doesn't apply to picks bought with WagerBuxx though. The guy selling his WagerBuxx has an ebay handle of "davdavsne", can't search for that though. Searching for "wagertalk" is the way to see the listing.

Walters is now in jail on charges not related to gambling, I think it was insider trading on stocks. Should have stayed away from the shady stuff and stuck to gambling I guess. ;^)

In college football, I really like the UW Huskies this year. Fantastic coach in Chris Peterson there.
