GH 11, over the years I have respected your take on West Virginia. Need some help
partner. With only 8 returning starters (my concern is just 3 on D) not to mention no
    returning QB.

What is your evaluation of this year's WV team? You have always been honest with
your evaluation....don't turn 'homer' this year. Thanks Bud.

Clover, i look for 8-9 wins....my pick is 9-3...losses to Oklahoma, ksu and tcu....it seems like I differ a lot with Vegas on this yrs team....if you look at future lines, wvu is under dog in 7 games....only favored vs Delaware stat, Texas tech, Kansas and Iowa st....we win all those games, but I thought the lines were really high on them.

Off: I'm thinking this is the best off., that we have had since the geno, tavon Austin days...we bring back 4 starters on oline...cajuste(sp) tore his acl in 1st game last yr...so he will be back...the center position will have a slight drop off but they seem high on the replacement as he beat out a transfer from Tenn....top 3 rb-are back...at wr we lose Gibson and the biggest loss for me is shorts who was just reliable, but we do have some replacements and basically reload at wr. Everyone talked how fast Gibson was with the deep ball last yr, but his replacement(simms) was the fastest on the team last yr. He just had a learning curve and played behind gibson...wr position will be fine.
Qb: biggest change this off season....big,big ,big upgrade...will grier, transfer from fla will start. He sat out last yr with the suspension so he got to do scout team work and learn system. He is doing so well, everyone in Motown thinks he will go to NFL after this yr. Former coaches are saying he is the best qb in 50 yrs up there. The way they are recruiting, coaches must be thinking he will go NFL. He is able to hit any route which is a change that skylar Howard couldn t do. He couldn't hit recivers in middle of field. with the qb play...you can't load the box like teams did last yr on us so if that happens they will just go over the top.
Remember, spavital who came over from cals sonny dykes team will take over the play calling this yr. He was here with geno, left for ta&m and Johnny football, then had Goff at cal...so he will obviously open things up with grier.

Def: so the question marks for me will be dl and corner...the back side will be great....we get our leader and future NFL player back in askew-henry. He tore his acl in fall camp. So with him and white back and being very experienced I think it will help corner and lb out some. DC gibby loves to blitz and he will be able to with the back end help.
Dl I worry about depth. Get through that 1st game and they have a month to find help. They do get back 5th yr senior-juco peagues who messed his shoulder up last yr and didn't get to play. They thought he could get back in November, but just held him out for extra yr. De in Schuler is good and should be better from last yr...but replacing 3 starters, the dl will be a downgrade.

Lb: I think we will be fine and have depth. We are a starter down, in d. long until big12 play...but wvu has known that since spring so hopefully the backup in tonkery will be ready. Preston, Benton will be back and should be better. They played a ton last yr.
Corner: this is the other part I worry about in pass happy big12...lose Douglas he may play a lot for eagles and I see no upgrade. We do have battle back who started some last yr and played a ton. It seems like the other position will go to Bailey who is a judo transfer. We do have a grad transfer from Syracuse in Winfield who had 20 or so starts there so that should help a ton. Overall, I look for the def to be about the same as last yr. At times we were good, at other times just bad. This is a pretty good wvu team, but the big12 his a loaded conference this yr. I expect a 3rd/4th finish in league.
    Osu,ksu,okla,wvu...

1 unit on each. I don't see anyone else on this side winning the division,so we will take a chance.

seeing folks pimping cuse as a great underdog shot but i totally agree is is a VT/UM choice

one good thing about Pitt as their suspensions will be done before the first ACC games and many young guys will then have 3 games under their belts but Browne would have to be the best QB in the division for Pitt to win the coastal.
