San Diego starting pitcher Dinelson Lamet (6-4, 5.12 ERA season) has a 1.96 ERA during his three-game winning streak, and the key to his recent improvement might be the growing confidence in his slider. Strike rate is very good and his Ground Ball to Fly Ball ratio seemingly is improving also...
"The slider's real," Padres manager Andy Green said, "and the willingness to throw it at any time. For the longest time, I think he saw it as a kill pitch. He was only going to throw it when he was ahead in the count when he wanted to put a hitter away."

Partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures (81*) are expected for Thursday afternoon's game at the Great American Ball Park (hitters park). Light winds (3mph) blowing out to left field, coupled with the warm air, will provide favorable conditions for home runs. Total 8.5 OV (-117 to -120).
