I would go to a store first and look at the products, then shop around online and find the best deal. Walmart for example sells a lot of name brand tv's, but they are the cheaper quality one's in my opinion.

yeah i definitely need to do some research. i also find it odd that some tvs in the 55" range the same price or even more expensive than the 65"

if you gonna go to a store, then buy from the person who helps you

if you gonna buy online, stop wasting peoples time going into a store

yes i own retail stores and hate customers who just want information. easy to spot and couldn't give a fuk about em

Also, Amazon isn't always cheaper. Plus, best buy will match pricing of amazon if its the same model number

I was in the market for a new 55" last year, Best Buy ended up being the cheapest. Just did a buy online pick up in store. Knew exactly what I wanted though.

I didn't feel like waiting for it though, which was also a factor.

depends on the size. they are so cheap..

I just saw a 40" on braddeals.com for like $340, 4k Ultra Smart tv, a brand name too...

I usually go to Sam's Club for bigger TV's...

that was my next question. are the name brands worth the extra money? i have two lgs, a couple vizios and a samsung currently and i couldnt tell the difference in them really. now im looking at oled, ultra 4k smart tvs. the best buy website actually has a "find the right tv for you" kind of thing when you first start shopping. its pretty cool

No way! I bought two 65" TVs 2 years ago. One is a vizio the other Samsung.. I think each was under $800.

I loved my previous vizio, but this one has given me a ton of problems.

I think the biggest difference with the cheaper tvs is the sound quality. If you use a sound bar, then youre good to go, but if not stick with the brand names -- outside of vizio just because of all the problems i have with this one.

people go to the store to see the picture quality and so they can compare. can't reliably do that online.

thats true too. but if best buy will match price like someone said id rather go with that than risk damage during shipping

Shit no. I got a Samsung 55" 4k Smart TV on sale for like $500-$550.

Do not pay that kind of money unless you're getting an OLED.

well you certainly can't reliably do this in stores. they can adjust picture quality to make certain units (most heavily stocked, best margins, ones they want to move for next gen models) stand out next to more poorly adjusted neighboring ones. well known practice

get some models in mind and see what the folks at avsforum say about them. they will also have some specific picture quality settings available for each model

im not looking for anything great or top of the line by any means. i do need a 55" and a 42" though. apparently the first ones that popped up where the best available. they were like 2500-4000 but they were oled. maybe i dont need oled?
