    Robert Byrd will be referee

Second time heís handled a Mayweather fight before. Byrdís first time reffing Floyd was his 2013 win over southpaw Robert Guerrero.

Other notable recent major boxing events Byrd has featured in include the first Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev matchup, as well as Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo Alvarez.

Heís a well-respected official who has been in the fight game for more than three decades.

Your three judges at ringside will be Dave Moretti, Burt Clements, and Guido Cavalleri.

Moretti and Clements were two of the judges who scored the Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight in 2015, with Moretti having Floyd winning 118-110, while Clements went a bit closer at 116-112. Cavalleri scored 115-112 for Mayweather over Marcos Maidana in their 2014 rematch, and otherwise has an extensive history judging fights outside the United States.

You can argue Cavalleri is the “international judge" McGregor’s team wanted.

    Biggest Mayweather bets

    • Las Vegas sportsbook operator CG Technology on Aug. 20 dropped the price on Mayweather to -490 and attracted a six-figure bet on the boxing champ. CG Technology books were offering Mayweather at -500 and McGregor at +400 on Monday afternoon (Aug. 21).

    • Johnny Avello, executive director of Wynn race and sports, told ESPN on Friday (Aug. 18) that he has taken multiple $250,000 bets on Mayweather.

    • The South Point Sports Book took an $880,000 bet on Mayweather at -550 odds on Aug. 11. If Mayweather defeats McGregor, the bettor would net $160,000.

    • On July 28, the Westgate took a "low six-figure" bet on Mayweather at -600 to defeat McGregor.

    • On July 3, the Westgate took a "low six-figure" bet on Mayweather at -650 to defeat McGregor.

    • On May 30, the Westgate took a $50,000 bet on Mayweather at -800, two weeks before the fight was made official. That bet would net a $6,250 profit with a Mayweather win.

    • In the first few hours after the fight was made official, CG Technology took a $45,000 bet on Mayweather.

    • William Hill US took three separate $50,000 moneyline wagers on McGregor to win (one at +475, two at +425) on July 24. The $150,000 bet would win $662,500.

    • Westgate took two "five-figure bets" on McGregor on July 24.

The betting action on the fight remains "surprisingly brisk" at Station Casinos' sportsbooks, where for every one bet on Mayweather there have been 15 on McGregor.

McGregor winning in RD 1 (+2000) already the biggest exposure of any prop in history of BetOnline.

Would be bigger loss than any 2017 MLB game

Heavy, one-sided McGregor betting has created huge exposure and liability for the books. If McGregor is able to pull off the upset, public bettors will be rewarded with a massive plus-money payout, which would be a nightmare for the books.

“This could be the worst loss in the history of MGM Resorts,” Jay Rood, VP of MGM, told ESPN.

Needless to say, the books will be rooting hard for Mayweather to run his record to 50-0 on Saturday night.

“All I know is we’re less than a week away from making a lot of money or getting clobbered,” Nick Bogdanovich, William Hill director of trading, told ESPN.

This is the 3rd time in Floyd Mayweather’s career he will box someone making their pro debut.

The other times were over 20 years ago.

    Food for thought ...

Gervonta Davis is 1/60 vs Francisco Fonseca (a 19-0-1 BOXER) on the undercard

    49-0 Mayweather 1/4 vs McGregor +290 - a 0-0 MMA'er.

At William Hill US shops in Vegas and around Nevada, director of trading Nick Bogdanovich can hardly keep up with the action on props, particularly bettors taking Yes on: Will Mayweather get knocked down?

“That’s getting a lot of action, and it’s the prop with the most liability too,” Bogdanovich said earlier today, noting No opened -700 and Yes +500. “Now we’re at -400/+320. In fact, I’m gonna go lower right now, just because they’re just gonna keep taking it. So I’m going to -360/+300.”

The William Hill prop seeing the most action – but not creating quite as much liability – is: Will the fight go the distance, 12 full rounds? No opened -300 and Yes +350, and the prices have moved to -250/+210 respectively.

“It’s drawing real good action,” Bogdanovich said, adding his 100-plus shops have seen $25,000 in wagers on that prop alone. “Everything to do with this fight, we’re doing huge action.”

MGM Resorts books could echo that statement. Randy Madayag, sportsbook supervisor at The Mirage on the Vegas Strip, said the prop bet cash is flooding in, and much of it one-sided.

“I just know we’re heavy on everything McGregor right now, especially the round props – McGregor anywhere in the first five rounds,” Madayag said. “On Round 1, we’ve got $300,000 in liability to McGregor. It opened at 40/1, and now it’s 15/1. People think if he’s gonna win, it’s gonna be early and quick – a puncher’s chance.”

The prop drawing the most money at MGM books is McGregor to win by knockout, with $100,000 in action so far, taking those odds from the opener of 6/1 down to 3.5/1. MGM also has a three-option round prop for each fighter: to win in rounds 1-4, 5-8 or 9-12.

“We’re heavy on McGregor on all three options,” Madayag said. “We’re just getting pounded on pretty much anything McGregor.”

But there is at least one prop at MGM where Mayweather has created liability: Floyd winning by knockout has drawn $70,000 in action, hiking the price to -170 after being as low as -120.
